Yeah that's it, I LOVE that song!
The man promised me a raise, well who's gonna raise me when I'm dead...
We were born & raised in New York City, fell in love in Central Park...
I really love New York City, still #1 in my heart!
How can you NOT Like that? I live by those phrases even today. That jam ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!
T.S. Monk, a drummer player, is no other than the first son of legendary jazz piano player Thelonious Monk. He plays jazz now and did a tribute record to his father recently.
From the tracks I heard, his two R&B albums ("House of music" and "More on the good life") must be superb.
Hey you know what? Hearing about Thelonious Monk I knew he HAD to be related to T.S. Monk. I was never too sure until now. Since then I was contemplating on that but I never spoke out on it because I didn't want to 'go leaping in the pool if I couldn't swim' or so to speak. This is great! I LOVE these forums!
Another club hit for TS Monk was "Candidate for Love" released on 12" also, I had forgotten all about this cuts until a few years ago while searching Ebay found them selling for for lots of $$$$.
Smart move, djscream67. I myself assumed mistakenly that Rod of "Shake it up (do the bogaloo)" was Rod Temperton a few weeks ago. However, now I know they are two different guys, so maybe it was good to make that post after all.
I remember some 15 years ago, when I made the great discovery that J.J. Cale and John Cale were in fact two different artists!!! :o When I told a friend of this, the two laughed out loud for a good while. We have been thinking all that time, how that Velvet Underground guy went to make those lazy guitar records? :P
So those T.S. Monk vinyls go high on EBay? Probably because of his actual fame as a jazz musician, huh? I'd like to know who were the other musicians on those records. They sure could jam... 8)
