:o It seems a bit cheesy yes. Still, I cannot get enough of it. Anyone else love this Salsoul gem?

Well it's typical Salsoul and as I enjoy that sound, Charo's is one of their best releases.
I've seen the videoclip for that one where she is walking in Vegas (I think) and mmmh, beautiful woman.
The accent, it's like Baccara, sensual![]()
Me gusta!
But...I'm listening to a tape right now of which I don't have the tracklist so I'm discovering while listening and just at the moment I opened this topic, she begins to sing (swear it's true!) Voodoo? I wish I hadn't opened that scary discotopic
coz' during the last days there are strange things happening here!
Absolutely love it!! :D :D
Simply a great disco track in a certain style that tells you that it could only be Salsoul! Not only do I love Charo's accent - but what about Mr Vince Montana's wonderful vibes at the end?? Heaven!
:)
There was a promo-only 8 minute version out on cd a few years back on "Salsoul Gold". Huge additional amounts of Charo! This comp also contained the extra strenght edit of Loleatta Holloway's "Dreaming" and the wonderful long promo of "Salsoul Hustle".
Hi,
you forgot to say something: the intro of DANCE A LITTLE BIT CLOSE is a copy [only with a faster tempo] of I CAN'T FIGHT YOUR LOVE's intro [the hit, I mean, "hit" record by THE MODULATIONS]. Plagiarism? Yes, but the guys who played on THE MODULATIONS record are the same studio cats playing on DANCE A LITTLE BIT CLOSER, including VINCE MONTANA.
zeca azevedo, coochie coochie for you too
I recall being about seven years old and loving Charo when she appeared on the variety/comedy TV show "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In" back in the '60s. I recall my mother patiently explaining to me that, just like Lucille Ball, Charo was married to a Latin Band Leader (Xavier Cugat). My father was absolutely furious a day or two later when he found out that my mother had taught me to "Cha-Cha" to one of Cugat's albums. He thought it was a really big deal exposing me to the fact that Cugat had married a woman half his age.
Well, now I not only own a number of Cugat albums (I'm also an avid Jazz fan), but I also own a nice copy of "Dance a Little Bit Closer." I also recall dancing to that, and, like the posts before me, going nuts about her accent (purring the words, "eeehts ssoh ccheavenly").
I've gotta come clean. Shortly after I discovered this website, I asked, in a forum, where I could find a copy of "Dance a Little Bit Closer." I'd like to publicly thank the individual who probably stopped laughing at my amateur (at least as far as disco's concerned) naivete long enough to reply with one line: "Oh, every dee-jay's got a copy of that." I'd actually thought I was the only one in the world who remembered that song.
Love all of you...
- Yours, musically
