That sample was used in 100s of tracks. I've always wondered where the original line came from too!
Anybody know this?
Hi. Can someone please tell me the name of the song and the artist that said this phrase....
"We gonna do a song...that you never heard before."
I really appreciate your help all. Thanx!

A sound file might help. I can almost hear this in my own mind, but it won't connect without a musical prod.
Someone else asked about this a few months back. I suggested it may be Otis Redding - that's what I've heard.
What would you do without your muesli...where would you be without a bowl?
Hmmmm, Otis Redding, I dunno. Someone out there would have to be a HEAVY fan of his to really know for sure. Of course it could've come out of a live concert track. At first I thought it was Jimmy Castor's Bunch & I'm sure even I haven't heard ALL their songs! LOL. Remember Troglodyte?
"What we gonna do right here is go back....WAAAAAY back, back into time."
Anyways someone out there PLEASE keep trying? Good luck.![]()
Damn, I could swear I played this recently and said to myself, "that's where they got that from." Seem to recall it "may" have been on some Soul music collection. Just can't remember which or if my mnd is simply playing tricks on me because of all the tracks that I have played that sampled it.

Just to confirm to Forrrce, yes it WAS Otis Redding, the song it came from I still don't know. When I did a Google search, I came up with James Brown at first, But with that voice I wasn't convinced.
As I moved on I came across a website which in fact confirmed (twice) it was O.R.'s voice, but never said from which cut, album, song, label, nuthin' like that. All I know is that the interviewee said those words were on some white label track from "DJ Double D - Lesson 2." Mid or late 80s I think.
So if that helps I will absolutely continue a search for Redding's music on Napster (that's gonna cost me! ) until I find out what track it came from. I'll continue with Google of course (much cheaper!) but I am hellbent on finding out real soon! Help me out all. Whoever finds out first among us will send a reply quickly, but I am not going to push you if you can't. Good luck everyone!![]()
Hi
I'm afraid my memory is a bit shot and my records in storage....but
I know a few of these popular vocal snippets were from the WattStax Live lps (the P.E. "Brothers and sisters..." for example). Also i'm sure there are covers of Otis Reddig tracks on one of the volumes. Worth checking out if you can I think.
I think that song is by Joe Tex and the Sexolets - "Walking with Dinasaurs" or something like that.
