"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Yep-The Weather Girls or Izora Armstead and Martha Wash.
My copy of "I got the feeling" only mentions Martha Wash as artist. When that record was released originally I thought the vocals were done by Sylvester. Almost the same voice????
Well videoskooter, I'm sure you know that the Two Tons were Sylvester's backup girls for a number of years. They used to perfom in SF all the time. WE got so jaded we avoided the street fairs.
"I Got The Feeling" is from their 1980 debut on Fantasy that also featured "Earth Can Be Just Like Heaven" and "Just Us". All club hits.
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Thx for the info. I'm listening to "Tell me" by Sylvester right now.
But didn't Jocelyn Brown also join the Weathergirls in a later period or am I wrong?
Hmmm...I don't think so. Jocelyn & Martha Wash did record that "Keep on Jumpin" track with Todd Terry.
Martha & Izora recorded with Sylvester on his late 1970s hits up til around the time of "Do You Wanna Funk", if I remember correctly.
You will hear them on "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)", "Dance (Disco Heat)", "Stars', "Body Strong" & "Can't Stop Dancin'", among others.
Then they released their solo debut in 1980 and left Sylvester to strike out on their own. The name change to the Weather Girls came about with the release of "It's Raining Men" in 1983. (Probably less an overtly degrading personal reference; also a marketing gimmick for the "Rain" record, I'd guess) They tried to replicate that success to dismaying results for a number of years.
Then Martha became a solo artist and I've heard Izora recruited her own daughter (Izorette???) to become the replacement Weather Girl.
Izora's got the gravelly growl voice and Martha has the powerful yet sweet voice. Martha obviously has had more "commercial" success. However, not nearly what she deserves.
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
the 1995 version of the Weather Girls was Izora Armstead and Dynelle Rhodes. They did an album "Think Big" that same year.
word of advice: STAY AWAY FROM IT!!!!!!!!!!!! :x  :x
