Pieces of Ice, is a favorite of mine I like to chill out to this, pun intended.
I was so-so on her disco stuff originally. My appreciation for her disco music has really grown from the first time when I heard them at the discos or on the radio. I talking about Diana Ross. My consistent favorite from her is "The Boss." Now it's your turn.
Find them and destroy them!

You only happen once.
The only track of hers I ever liked was "Love Hangover". Never really rated her other stuff.
If it moves - funk it!!
Without guessing "Love Hangover" is my fave of Diana Ross! Plus it is one of my favorite disco classics.
*DISCO DELIGHT*
I would agree with you, HustleBaby. It is one of my Disco Classics too.
I love that sultry smoky opening and then WHAM !! you get hit with that fantastic storming driving bass and hihat rhythm. Love it!!

My reasons for loving this song is just as you described. I get a rush everytime I listen to it. I remember when my mother bought the album, I think we played it everyday. I just turned on the radio and guess what they're playing....
*DELIGHTFUL*
My fave Diana Ross songs:
- Love Hangover (full version)
- Upside Down
- I'm Coming out
- The Boss

My three favorite Diana Ross songs are "Love Hangover", "Upside Down", and "I'm Coming Out".
Two other songs that I forgot to add are "Theme From Mahogany (Do You Know Where Your Going To)" and "The Boss". I know this isn't disco but I also like "Touch Me In The Morning".
*DISCO DELIGHT*
Me too. Actually, I love the entire "Touch Me In The Morning" album, except for her version of "Imagine", which just reeks of insincerity. On 2002-05-28 00:14, HustleBaby wrote:

Never could stand the BITCH!!!!
PSYCHE!!!!!
If ya know anything about me, rest assured that DIANA ROSS was and will always be .."MY DIVA".
People have mentioned the biggest hits already. I love them all.
I'm gonna plug a few more obscure items from the Ross repetoire:
"Chain Reaction" (written & produced by Barry Gibb--this is a knock-out that bombed in the U.S. but was a smash in Europe.)
"Lovin, Livin' & Givin"- (the original version was remixed with a Giorgio Moroderish synth line and used on the "Thank God It's Friday" soundtrack--this cut never took off either)
"It's My House" - (Ashford/Simpson tune from "The Boss" given a sweet morning music extended version by Jimmy Simpson).
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
No one gets the prize was a great song from "The Boss" LP.On 2002-05-28 00:31, markydefad wrote:

Keep the faith and everything will come your way as time marches on!
Hey guys, let's not forget the "Swept away" from the 80's it has to be amoung my favs from her.
If you buy this record your life, will be better.
This is one 12" that was a hit when it came out. I truly forgot to mention one of my favorites also. Good Job!On 2002-05-28 07:08, disco1999 wrote:

Never liked any of her songs as Disco + I heard Sylvester's version of Love Hangover is better than hers.
Love Hangover would be my NUMBER 1 but here's a few others, disco and not, that I like. (I still say the woman can't really sing.)
Work That Body
Missing You
Swept Away
Remember Me
Reach Out, I'll Be There
No One Gets The Prize
The Boss
Your Love Is So Good For Me
One Love In My Lifetime
Ain't No Mountain High Enough
Remove This Doubt (w/The Supremes)
Love Has No Time or Place

Nicky, my BIG BROTHA, it is SOOOOOO STRANGE that we agree in all our musical tastes EXCEPT Miss Ross. When you first stated you didn't care for her a while back, I had to double check to see who's post I was reading. It floored me!!!! It never ceases to amaze me that YOU, of ALL people don't get her--especially since you grew up on Motown, as I did.
Ah well, I've made my case elsewhere. No sense rehashing it again.
I still love ya anyway.

Actually Mark, it's a "LOVE/HATE" thing I've got going on with Ross. I have her music and I play it. To quote my lover: "For someone who can't stand the Bitch you sure play her music enough!" (He, TRULY, can live without Diana.) She fell out of grace with me back-in-the-day when The Supremes became DIANA ROSS & The Supremes. It's her personality, that ego thats bigger than her hair that irks me more than the music. Like I said, I loved all those HIGH GLOSS productions Motown would give her. The finales of "Ain't No Mountain..." and "Reach Out..." still knock me out. But, as my lover, again, points out to me, what I like in those productions is not actually Ross, but what surrounds her. What can I tell ya, I'm freaky like that.Nicky, my BIG BROTHA, it is SOOOOOO STRANGE that we agree in all our musical tastes EXCEPT Miss Ross. Very well put... and I feel much the same way.On 2002-05-28 15:23, NickNack wrote:

THE BEST DIANA ROSS SONG "THAT WASNT" MUST BE "SINNER MAN" VALERIE SIMPSON IN ALBUM "EXPOSED" IF YOU LISTEN TO THIS FANTASTIC UPTEMPO TRACK YOU WILL HEAR IT MUST HAVE BEEN RECORDED ON THE SAME DAY IN THE SAME SESSION AS "REMEMBER ME/"AINT NO MOUNTAIN" SO IVE ALWAYS ASUMED IT WAS INTENDED FOR "MISS" ROSS AND SHE TURNED IT DOWN! CHEERS VALERIE!
I like all those mentioned here, but one of my favorite is an early Diana Ross club hit with the help of Marvin Gaye, "My Mistake" (74)good old skool soulful stuff.

That's a good choice. Also, "Don't Knock My Love", a remake of a Wilson Pickett track from that same LP is a good dance number.
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
As I read on, I see that I have forgotten other hits of Diana's that I like such as "No One Gets The Prize" and "Ain't No Mountain High Enough". Does anyone remember a song that she made during 1982-85
name "Telephone" or "Call Me On The Telephone"? I really liked that song and I haven't heard it since then.
*DISCO DELIGHT*
Hustlebaby,
The song you remember is "Telephone" from the 1984 "Swept Away" LP; cowritten & produced by Bernard Edwards of Chic.

I know you said she can't sing but you gotta give it up to her (maybe not)when she did "My World Is Empty Without You", "Love Child" and "I Hear A Symphony."
