Liquid Gold - pure delicious crap singles

But am I alone in hankering for a nice hits package?

Dance Yourself Dizzy, What's She Got, My Baby's Baby, Don't Panic, The Night The Wine The Roses, and best of all, Substitute..............shouldn't this happen?

    OCB
requesting this on the basis of seeing a Toto Coelo hits package in Tower yesterday.

"I EAT CANNIBALS. IT'S INCREDIBLE. YOU BRING OUT THE ANIMAL IN ME or YOUR LOVE IS SO EDIBLE TO ME. I EAT CANNIBALS" :o :o :o

Maybe the Spice Girls should reunite and cover this novelty from the early '80s.

I does make ya wanna holler....all the crap that gets released when such primo vintage stuff stays in the dusty vaults.

    Dear B'stard,

You added one adjective too many, I fear. The word delicious.

Liquid Gold were, with little exception, pure crap.

How you can say S Club 7 were good & Liquid Gold were crap is beyond belief & just shows what I've always suspected about you Quiny, you don't like disco; enjoy your jazz club!

Steely: Yep, I hated disco done by Liquid Gold!!!! :P

S Club 7 were great for the audience they were aiming at (7 -13 year olds). My daughter was living proof.

Alas, the jazz club doesn't resume for another 2 months.

    "Iko Iko" :D

Hey, Liquid Gold were pretty good. They're not the crème de la crème but I like 'em.

"Dance yourself dizzy" is a floorfiller just as "My baby's baby".

The vocals were catchy, the music was bumpin'. All the right ingredients were there.

There are worse things! ....Kelly Marie

    And what's S Club 7 doin' on a musicforum? :-? :D

Couldn't agree more videoskooter; you talk so much sense that I may even forgive you your dislike of Stock Aitken Waterman!

I didn't like them at the time but in retrospect it was well made pop disco. I love the intro strings on "Dizzy".

I didn't like all the Jason Donovan, Kylie era...Or the rip-off of Collonel Abrahms - Rick Astley either...But, they did some good stuff with Princess, and The Three Degrees ('The Heaven I Need')

buckaroo, u should check out some early SAW produced tracks like Morgan Mcvey's 'Looking Good Diving', Phil Fearon's 'Aint Nothing But A House Party', Mondo Kane's 'New York Afternoon' & Sequal's 'Tell Him I Called' (hi sfb!) as well as the more hi-nrg-type stuff to see that they were capable of so so much more than Kylie & Jason. By '88 they had run out of interesting dance ideas but hit a commercial hot streak with their poppier stuff alas. :(

It's not often I agree with Quinny, but I have to say - Liquid Gold were so bad they were embarrasing. Their disco arrangements were so tinny. Yuk!

There were a lot of bands that jumped on the Disco bandwagon - Liquid Gold were definitely one of them. They didn't do us any favours - they just gave Disco a bad name ....

    Sorry folks ...

    :)

Jazz: Hiya, long time no post you.
I'm sure we could agree on many more things if only you'd accept that you were wrong.

The later 'What She's Got' was a nice pop song, but 'Dance Yourself Dizzy' had a cabaret/made-for-tv-theme quality. Pub rock goes disco - and Ellie H's voice was more suited to MOR.

The Liquid Gold band members are still doing the rounds in various guises (e.g. modern-day reincarnations of Mud and Sweet). A couple of years ago I saw Syd Twynham play in a band at my ex-boss's wife's 60th birthday party!

I'm a shameless admirer of Dance Yourself Dizzy, My Baby's Baby, and others.

Wasn't Ellie Hope Lucky (1983) connected to Liquid Gold ?

Loved the Liquid Gold album cover with the face painted gold.

    Muggy
