Because that's where Dubya finally became "Presidential" standing at the 9/11 site with the bullhorn. You haven't forgotten how he's single-handedly won the war on "terrer"?, have ya?

    Mission Accomplished!!!!

Oh yes-I personally think it's gonna be a dirt-campain like we have never seen before and Kerry/Edwards should keep their eyes wide open coz' the Dubyas are goin' to play it very hard.

    Go Johnny go!

But now I have to shut up coz' I'm belonging to the old Europe and George has said that we don't know what's good for him, euhm, you.

Ya know. I always appreciate how the rest of the world looks at politics globally. :)
The bush regime is using familiar tactics to attack veterans while at the same time courting military votes. Guess what, it's worked before :o

Yes Paul, and sadly the smear tactics seem to be working. Talk shows on radio & TV can't stop talking about this ****. Every night the attackers crawl outa the primoridial oooze wherein they normally dwell and start spinning their tales.         Don't trust the word of the guy who Kerry pulled out of the water under enemy fire...believe the guys who weren't there. :o They know that Kerry didn't earn his medals, maybe inflicted the wounds on himself and was only in Vietnam for 4 months. It was all part of his "plan" to document his service and then launch his political career. :o

    GIVE ME A FUCKING BREAK!!!!!

Yeah that's the way. Enlist for Vietnam military service. It's the easy way to launch a political career!!! What's the world coming to? People believe this ****!!!!

We are half a nation of IDIOTS!!!!!

    One mo' thing...

Don't forget these are the same for-hire slimemeisters on the Dubya payroll who played these tricks on John McCain in the 2000 Republican race. And also the same assholes who attacked & smeared then-Senator Max Clelland-- who only lost 3 limbs in Vietnam. By their logic, that's the "other" way to "launch" a political career???

It’s Payback Baby!!!! Just like James Brown said “The BIG PAYBACK!!!!”

After all the trash he talked about Viet Nam Vets even when they were still dying over there, (Kerry’s words/testimony was used to torture McCain at the Hanoi Hilton), after throwing away his metals he now so proudly rubs in our faces, and after confessing on tape of taking part in the atrocities he accused others of, now he wraps himself in the flag and looks in my face and says ”reporting for duty” And He wants my Vote? , Now, I wonder who really belongs in the “Idiots” half…Hmmmmmm.

If you've actually served in a war, I think you're entitled to criticze that war. If you voluntarily enlisted, were wounded and did another tour of duty...I'd say you have a MORE-THAN valid voice in objecting to what's going on. The Vietnam war was a colossal mistake and the leaders of our country knew it... nevertheless, they kept sending young Americans to die for a cause they knew was hopeless. We had to save face.

America had never LOST a war before. We've never gotten over it.

Vietnam is very controversial and unfortunately we are still debating this some 30-40 years later. I'd rather the discussion focus on the future but this is where we are right now. Hey Nicky, I'd really love your take right now pro or con, because your a man who was actually there. Fortunately the war ended some 3 or 4 years before my number came up!

So Mixmachine, you are more troubled by Kerry's over the top Vietnam politics than by the chickenhawks who will make it to their convention but managed to evade Vietnam when it was time to put up or shut up? :o

Yeah, when it was their time to SERVE THEIR COUNTRY-- the "chickenhawks" had "other priorities"--like saving their precious asses.

Now that they're the powermongers, it's about sending other people's kids to fight THEIR wars.

Can you say "Hypocrite"? Well can ya?

First I have a lot of respect for those who served in Vietnam. Young people who were send there by politicians.

And I do know it's a trauma in American society and history.

But I don't understand that these themes are taking over the elections instead of debating more about creating jobs, health-care issues and caring for eachother.

I hear Kerry and Edwards touching those problems but I don't hear much on these issues from the Bush-clan.

"War on this, war on that, shoot them down, smoke 'em out, seek and destroy" is almost all you hear when they come out. Why, because they simply don't care about people, they only care about their agenda. Tax-cuts for the richest is creating more jobs and welfare???? Wake up!

Tax-cuts for the middle-classes, that's creating a good economy! Those are the consumers and when they get paid better they will help reviving the economy. Every economist will agree with that.

Will Kerry be the Boy-wonder? No, but he will be more moderate and less arrogant and that will have more effect on safety and social security than the Bush-politics that's dividing America now.

When I read all the music-stuff here I see people with different opinions but generally discussing in good spirit. When I, as a European, read this part of the forum I can clearly see the complete American division.

Our country's slogan is "Eendracht maakt macht-L'union fait la force" which simply means "Unity makes powerful". Together were strong!

Paul, just because someone didn’t serve in the Armed Forces doesn’t make then “Chicken” or unfit to lead this Nation, if we followed that logic FDR would have never been elected, and Clinton would have never enjoyed so much his afternoon stays in the oval office, fact is that Kerry’s behavior after and during the war doesn’t seat well with the majority of Vets, after so many years they came to terms with what happened and moved on, but now since Kerry opened old wounds and made VietNam an issue in this campaign his past words and actions are now coming back to haunt him, IMO a fatal mistake for his campaign, rubbing ones military record on others comes across as arrogant, self-serving and makes huge chunks of the electorate uncomfortable and made to feel less “worthy” because they never served for millions of other reasons; This is why McGovern didn’t use his WWII record in 72, neither did Bush I or Bob Dole.

Markydefad, is a shame that someone that always sounds so happy and entertaining always approaches Politics from the “Half empty” point of view, infectious Democrats ailment? The Viet Nam war was but a battle in a Global war waged against Communist expansion orchestrated by the USSR, and as you can see they are no where to be found, even the Chinese are more Capitalist now than we ever imagine possible, lives that were lost in this world wide battle were never lost in vain, they made it possible for you and me to seat here and continue to type this message in English instead of Russian.

The majority of the Tax cuts went to middle class and poor class even got money back without paying any taxes at all, your info is infected by ultra Liberals 'class warfare' agenda, the majority of Taxes in the US are paid by the rich and Corps (65% before 63% now), besides is only fair that if you paid more tax dollars you should received more rebate, the rebate % was equal for everyone! the way it should be! any attempt to over tax one american group more because they are better off and "don't need it" is to close to Socialist/Communist mentality to me and I will always be against that!

Hey Mixmachine. A chickenhawk is a term used to describe those who are hawkish or eager to exercise the military option but who failed to serve their country when the opportunity was there.
Bush falls in that category because along with the help of his dad avoided serving in 'Nam, he also stated for the record that he did not want to go there.
Cheney is a chickenhawk because he was too busy and got 5 deferments.
Karl Rove is a chickenhawk. I don't know what he used for an excuse but he didn't serve in Vietnam.
Rumsfeld is a chickenhawk because he decided to take the college ROTC route than shootin' at them commies in Korea when he had the chance.
Limbaugh is a chickenhawk because he found a pimple on his ass which kept him outta 'Nam.
Micheal Medved, another talk show host who I talked to and slammed him for being a chickenhawk. He was all too eager to send his son to Iraq when I argued with him. What a fucking punk!
There are more but I think you get the picture. All these guys are now casting doubt on Kerry's service. Huh? No surprise though. Bush/Rove attacked fellow repug John McCain's service and POW situation. These guys have no shame. It's all about the power.
I generally do I agree that Kerry may have been a little heavy handed in displaying his military service compared to Carter snd daddy Bush for example. I also do agree that military service is no indicator of the kind of president we might get.

Paul, don't forget the patron saint of chickenhawks and war wimps: Pat "Where's My Straight Jacket?" Buchanan!

Michael Medved....uuuggggh! It must be tough to be a homophobe AND a closet case.

Boodi. Glad to see you. So I gotta slam the righties to get you to post huh
You are right about Buchanan though he surprised me this time. He was also opposed to the war in Iraq. I heard him say Iraq posed no threat worth the life of one of our soldiers and if we wanted the oil that badly we'll going and take it when we want. Surprising coming from him considering he was a Nixon hawk during the Vietnam War.
