    Disappointing Night

We went and saw M. Night Shyamalan's "The Village" today. I was really looking forward to this flick. I enjoyed "Sixth Sense" and "Signs" and had high hopes for this. Plus, Sci-Fi Channel's little exploitative 'documentary' had me wondering even more about the man.

I'll keep it short and say "save your money". After 30 minutes I was ready to walk. This is really a poor piece of film making with a preposterous story line. And even when you find out the 'why and what for', you don't care. It drags and drags without giving you a pay-off ending. Talk about good actors in a bad film: William Hurt, Sigourney Weaver, Adrian Brody, Joaquin Phoenix. All wasted as you sit there thinking, "DO SOMETHING. TELL ME ALREADY!" A couple of good scarey seconds and some unintentional laughter aren't worth $11.50.

I won't give away anything because if you like M. Night you'll probably want to check this out. Just be prepared to come out of the theater still hungry. :x

I had read/heard a few reviews on this movie and the general consensus was that it was mediocre at best. I know, I know, you can't always pay attention to the reviews, but when they are unanimous in their opinions maybe it's good to stay away.

Maybe it's a pattern with the director. The Sixth Sense was excellent! Unbreakable sucked! Signs was good, The Village sucks! His next film should be good

Nick, the Village's "twist ending" was leaked online a while back.....Shirley Jackson would have laughed at that ending.

    Thanx for the warning :D

The movie is not in theatres here but the press is promoting it as a "superb" movie. Don't believe the press

I'll think about it and maybe "I forget about it" (yep-I'm hooked on the Sopranos)

We were less than an hour into the movie when I leaned over to Bill and told him whom I thought "those we do not speak of" were. This was just so lame.

Apparently it did well this weekend. I too have heard mixed reviews. Sounds like another I'll wait to see on cable!
    Find them and destroy them!
