So if there are some sweet ladies out there on this forum, please let me know!

PS: Now dont worry about the stricktly men and gay cliché you get by all these male members on this forum.
I also post on an hiphop and elektro site and there also almost everyone is male! And i'm sure those hiphopper sure ain't no queer battyboys. if ya know what i mean.

Think again. Just because they don't identify themselves as such doesn't mean they aren't there.

    battyboys.
With all due respect -- are you aware that "battyboy" is a rather offensive slur?

I also post on an hiphop and elektro site and there also almost everyone is male!
Well, most women I know are really turned off by bullshit macho attitudes, like the hip-hop guys who think that words like "bitch" aren't insulting. It never ceases to amaze me how so many men never seem to figure this out.

True! Since the gay rapper came out, no one else is trying to reveal their "Battie Boy Style". It's just, plain stupid on those non-intellectual people who address a female dog as a queen.

hey guys, i didn't mean to upset anyone!

i just used those words to represent the attitude that hiphoppers use on those hiphop forums. I find the slang language that they use very funny, but never take it seriously!
I guess i had to much fun enjoying those ALI G shows recently.
You see, myself i'm no hiphopper at all when it comes down to attitude. But I do like the music (not the typical gansta ****). and then mostly just the music (the beats) and not the rappers (the words). Because to me musically hiphop, funk, disco, house are all related in a certain way. It all comes down to a certain groove that all originated in a black spirit!
So i wasn't really offending any gay people on this forum!
I was just laughing at the way certain hiphoppers see gay people. And in fact, there are gay hiphoppers, its just not common.
So again sorry if i offended anyone! I guess that for expressing my words, my english is not as good as i thought it was!

No one's offended at all. It wasn't anything personal with the last post. I just love music from all genres.

Come to think of it, you're right, there aren't many female members on this board for some reason. The only ladies I know of on this board are Leanmean (she hasn't posted in a while), Boodikka (She's just left because of the awful arguements that have been happening on this board), and Hustlebaby (who is still posting on the board), they are the regulars on the board that I know are female.

There are a lot of other non-regular members joined up to this board that only make posts once in a blue moon, so I guess there are more female members joined up.

It would be nice to get more ladies joining up. If I ever meet a girl who likes 70's disco I'll encourage her to join up to this messageboard.

    Nonkel808,

I remember when I found this website one night and as I was browsing, I've noticed that the majority of the members were male.
But it didn't sway my decision to become a member. One of the reasons why I like this website is because most of the members are men.

Like Funky Dude said every once in awhile, a woman may post a topic/message and then disappear. We haven't heard from LeanMean in months and Boodikka left so it seems like I'm the ONLY regular female member on board.

Unfortunately all of my friends like todays music so they won't find this webpage as pleasurable as I do.

P.S - How did you come up with that name?

Nonkel808, I don't think you're going to find any hootie in here. Most females you'll find here are not of the "straight persuasion".

Well, NONKEL808, FANTOMAS has already made the assumption you're trying to get laid and don't want to interact with any lesbians. I do hope you can "find your hootie" soon.

Hey, it is interesting that for all the resident "fags", "queers", "homos", ...OK, "GAYS" on the board...that we don't have a coterie of "hags" to complement us. I mean who else danced with all the fat chicks at the high school dances? And everyone knows that the "Hot" straight girls all have their gay boyfriends to hang out with and commiserate with over those nasty straight men. (And to give them styling and taste tips, of course).

OK, people I'm being facetious (look it up). But, admit it...it is a little odd. No?

Oh, Marky. Those straight gals who we drank with and danced with (until they--or we--got married and/or until dance music started sucking so badly that no one could dance to it but drugged-out klub kidz... uh, sorry...)

...those women don't care about the music--especially the divas--the way we do (not that there's anything wrong with that ). I mean, do you think those women--hell, MOST straight people (those posting here excepted)--could name 5 songs Donna Summer sang post-Bad Girls?

    It's a gay thang.

I don't think that NonKel808 was looking to get laid, he's was just interested in chatting with a female who share the same musical taste. Oh by the way, I'm straight.

Marky, you've made some interesting points
regarding the relationships between straight women/gay men. We tend to have great relationships because:
1.Sometimes we're(women)so tired of the machismo bullshit.
2.Gay men like to shop WITHOUT complaining!
3.We can get honest and good opinions about fashion and men in general.
4.Sometimes we want a male buddy to hangout with who can keep his hands to himself and not on our thighs.

There are certain things that we can do with our male buddy that our boyfriend/husband may find boring, sissified or useless. Its like Charlotte and her male friend(I forgot his name) on "Sex & The City".

    I totally agree, Hustlebaby.

For the record, I always assumed you were the one straight female regular in this crazy cast of characters that we comprise here. When Jeff first joined, I wrote out a thumbnail stetch of the "regulars" so he could figure out who every one was and looking back at it now, the breakdown was as follows:

    Lesbians = 2
    Straight Women = 1

    Gay Men = 9
    Straight Men = 10

This was in January and MOST of those folks are still regulars. Lotsa new folks have come on board in the ensuing months--but NO STRAIGHT WOMEN.

Now in reference to "Sex And The City", a show I LOVE, Carrie's gay friend is Stanford Blatch (Willie Garson--straight in real life, I'm told, believe it or not) and Charlotte's wedding planner friend is Anthony Marantino (Mario Cantone, openly gay in real life). I love the interaction of these women with their gay friends. When they went to a gay bar to dance and escape the straight dating scene for an evening and Samantha crashed the "men's room" and was checking out all the guys as they did their business, it was hilarious. THEY RULE!!!! And, truth be told, the scuttlebutt in the industry is that they really are basically modeled after gay men cause the creators (Michael Patrick King, Darren Starr) are primarily gay. But the actresses and the writers are dead on in their depiction of the strange differences between gay men and straight men and the bonding done by straight women and gay men.

In reality, I don't think I'm like either Stanford Or Anthony--too flaming for me. NOT THAT THERE'S ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT

Ditto Emmitt on "Queer As Folk". And I'm certainly NOT Brian Kinney or Justin. Probably, I wish I were Michael, but in reality am Ted...and desperately trying NOT to be Uncle Vic!!!!!!!!!! Lord help me if I start dressing like Quentin Crisp!!!!!!!

Hey Jeff. Let me enter confessional here. I must confess to being one of those straights who can't name much if any post disco Donna Summers songs. I wasn't into her pop/rock thang. Now, can I leave confessional with nothing more than a hand job Sorry.
Delight, I guess I'm one a dem guys with the machismo issue. To borrow a quote from G. Gordon Liddy, there something about the scent of a woman. If she has nice legs, oh baby. I just can't help myself

Oh, one more thing. I noticed at the top of this post, the term battyboy. Now being from Jamaica, batty (pronounced bahty) referred to your ass. Whenever Jamaicans said batty man they talking about gay men. I'm a little out of the loop with the vernaculars, especially the epitaphs. When did this become a part of the American dialect?

Paul, YOU DEFINTELY PASS THE STRAIGHT TEST!!!

Not that I ever had any doubt. (All those references to women as "good eatin'" specifically Julie Christie and several others as I remember.)

BUT, a while ago I commended you on correctly spelling BARBRA (as opposed to BARBARA) STREISAND. I think you fucked up the last name, but no sweat.

Well today you committed a CARDINAL SIN: It's Donna SUMMER NOT Donna "SUMMERS". (I can just picture Jeff having a nightmare back EAST in the Pitts as I type this).

One other tip I can give you in spelling Diva names that most self-respecting gay guys (battyboys???!!!--what the hell does that mean???) know is : Ann-Margret NOT Ann-Margaret or god forbid Ann Margaret!!!!!

So, in summation it's Barbra NOT Barbara; Summer NOT Summers and -Margret NOT -Margaret. Oh, and , of course, it's Liza with a "Z", not Lisa with an "S".......

Just call me Marky da Ole Skool Marm

I LOL'ed for real when reading this comment. You know me too well, Marky: "Summers" is one of my top pet peeves!

Ah, Marky, you just made this old journalism major/copy editor/Grammar Lady very happy. (And please let's not forget that it's Minnelli--two N's, two L's, like "millennium"--which is a spelling aid I used a lot about a year and a half ago (to no avail).

    HAHAHAHA,
i've been gone for a few days, and people start assuming all kind of things behind my back. Aín't it funny.
Now i'm glad you replied to this Hustlebaby! Indeed i'm not trying to get laid on this Forum, becouse most people here are from a country far away, and i'm just in a little almost hidden country in Europe. I guess it won't be that easy to date any of the ladies livin in the USA or so. Anyway, i don't even need to score and get laid, 'cause i've got a sweet lady overhere in Belgium!
I was just curious about the women on this forum thats all!

by the way, you asked me where my name comes from: nonkel808.
Well, it's sort of a joke. By real name is BOB, but i always write in capital letters and sometimes my name looks like 808. Somebody told me this and eversince i started using 808 as name. (pronounced as eight o' eight) The NONKEL is just a Dutch word for UNCLE. Some people call me this way plus and its a reference to a Belgian 50ies child TV presenter called NONKEL BOB of whom i have a vintage vinyl album (with child songs) hanging on the wall above my turntabels.
When i firts visited this site i was in a funny mood and so entered nonkel808 as my username.

Let me make this clear that I do like strong and masculine men. However I DO NOT LIKE men who:
1.feel that they should only wear the pants
2.struts around with their chest in the air while grabbing their crotch
3.think that a woman is supposed to turn over her body to him just because he asks for it
4.think its natural for a man to be loud, disrespectful and foulmouthed
5.is very insensitive to a womans needs etc..

So I must ask what kind of machismo do you give off? We all know that men want sex BUT damn some men make it SO OBVIOUS as if they were just released from prison. Then you also have the knuckle-head construction workers who don't have any finesse. Those kind of compliments I can do without. Besides they gave last ten women before me the same "corny, tired ass" lines.

    Marky,
Most of the gay guys that I hung out with were like "Anthony" some more flame than others. I only know a few that are conservative like "Stanford". I saw that episode when the girls went the gay bar and Miranda bumped into a co-worker of hers that she thought was straight. That was a good episode but I didn't know that the women were modeled after gay men. Now that I recall, the girls watched a gay male porno flick later that evening....it was Samantha's idea of course but I didn't quite understand that part.

I can name five songs that Donna Summer recorded after "Bad Girls". Hell, I even have a Donna Summer album ("Endless Summer"). And......I'm a straight man. But like you said, the straight regulars on this board are exceptions.

OK guys, I just found this topic and have some comments and questions:
    1) What is a "hag"? (remember English is my second language)
    2) I remember these Donna post '79 songs: "The wanderer", "Cold love", "Lookin' up" (all from The wanderer LP), "Romeo" (from the Flashdance soundtrack), "State of independence" (didn't like her version), "She works hard for the money", "This time I know it's for real"... well, that makes seven! What can this possibly mean?
    3) About gay film types, I'd like to know what Marky got from Rupert Everett's work in My best friend's wedding. For me seemed respectful and also LOL (as you say), but of course I'm straight so I don't count, huh?
    4) No new women in five months? What did we do wrong?
    5) Probably the answer for all this is that for most women, we guys were wrong in thinking it was about the music! For them it was about getting laid of finding "the one" (even if they wouldn't tell)... So I auto-answered question 4... What if they were right?... Oh man, this is depressing...
