Ritchie Familie's The best disco in town

OK, just to show that I sometimes also ask dumb questions  can someone please provide the complete track listing of the all the songs that are included in The Ritchie Family's "The Best Disco In Town" (the 12" version of course)?

    Many thanks!

Dumb question??? No, fun to do!

I listened carefully and this is what I discovered:

    - It's the best disco in town (Ritchie Family)
    - I'll be there (Gloria Gaynor)
    - I love music (O'Jays)
    - Fly Robin fly (Silver Convention)
    - Brazil (Ritchie Family)
    - Love to love you baby (Donna Summer)
    - That's the way I like it (KC & The Sunshine Band)
    - Lady Bump (Penny Mc Lean)
    - Here comes the express (BT Express)
    - Lady Marmelade (Labelle)
    - Romantic love (????)

Maybe the list is not complete but those ar the ones I recognised. Maybe there's more.

Great record, especially the 12" :D

    There is more for sure

Hey thanks! But I think the list is definitely incomplete... There are also instrumental bits that are from "something"...

    Help

    Hi Maarten,

I had to listen to the album --- no 12". Anyway, my songs match Videoskooter's except for these two after "I Love Music":

Bad Luck - Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes
TSOP - MFSB w/The Three Degrees

There's some instrumental stuff after "Romantic Love" but I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a 'classic' or just filler for the medley. Sorry.

(Playing this again, I had forgotten how much I disliked this album. :x )

You're right-I didn't recognize Harold Melvin but TSOP is definitely there. I think the "horns" after "Romantic love" are original. "Arabian nights" is also a good Ritchie-tune but my favourites are still "Brazil" and "I feel (disco) good".

    Thanks!

Thanks much... there were just some bits I didn't know... and still don't, like the BT Express and Harold Melvin tracks. Now where did I place that "Best Of Harold Melvin" CD :-?

And by whom is that "Romantic Love" track?

OK... for some more fun, let's do Shalamar's "Uptown Festival pt. 1 and 2"... or the original Passion Mix that was "covered" as Stars On 45

Just kidding - and thanks again!

I think the Ritchie Family, even then, were entitled to a little bit of self promotion including "Romantic Love" in "BDIT". I'm sure a lot of people searched out and found more wonderful RF tracks via this sly little inclusion. It was almost as if they had recorded the medley thinking that "Romantic Love" might have been the first single released from the album and therefore might have been more well known by the time "BDIT" was released. Who knows?....chicken or the egg?????

Just for fun, since we are talking about past medleys, can anyone tell me the complete track listings to all the songs of the group Stars on 45, the Beatles medley 12" album of course?

Just kidding, I'm being rhetorical, ignore this.

But seriously, the Ritchie Family is a curious album. I own it now still today and I will try to give you a complete detail of all the songs within that medley soon. With all due respect, I do not think Videoskooter described all the songs correctly, but I am only human and I admit to being wrong. Let's see. cross your fingers.

Meanwhile, try Google. It can be the biggest help to you. Peace.

Talking of disco medleys let's not forget "The Lovers" "Discomania" on TK in 1977. Another Rome-Morali-Belolo-Hurtt production so it probably used the same musicians and singers. It came out at the same time and is very much in the same vein as "Best Disco In Town". Included were:
"Don't leave me this way" (Hits for Harold Melvin & Thelma Houston)
"That's where the happy people go" (Trammps)
"Life is music" (Ritchie Family - again included without ever being a hit)
"Shake shake shake your booty" (KC & the sunshine band)
"More more more" (Andrea True Connection)
    "Daddy kool" (Boney M)
"Turn the beat around" (Vickie Sue Robinson)
The B-side strangely was a lost opportunity and only used the "Discomania" tune without any covers.
