Forum followers may be familiar with Charme's version of Georgy Porgy featuring Luther Vandross on vocals.
Now the question is....was there ever a Charme LP??
Any info on this will be appreciated.

Hi K-Bee: I put it all this down for you to help in your decision. Of course, that only works if all these names mean anything to you. I did it anyway because, to be honest, this is not a very memorable album, IMO. It has never grown on me and the only reason I think about it is because of "Georgy Porgy". Everything sounds like a bad imitation of something else.

I detest track 1 with it's 'Broadway Revival' sound. The next track with Gwen doesn't do her justice. Too damn light. Track 3 is a weak Emotions/Three Degrees sound and the last cut on side one comes off like dated Rock 'N Roll.

Side two tries to start off with a little Euro-disco sound but fails miserably, coming off again like a bad show tune. Even Damaris can't help "Let's Let Love...". "Georgy Porgy" you know and for me this 'jazzed out' take on the song only survives because of Luther Vandross.

I guess I just don't like the arrangements of anything on the lp except "GP". For me, it's like they tried too hard to create these 'group vocals' but they don't work because the vocalists and/or the songs are weak.

My suggestion: Try and hear some of it before you put your money out. I hope someone else shares their thoughts 'cause I'm reallly biased against the lp.

I really had no idea what to expect from this alone...let alone that it even exsisted. Your info really helps a whole lot.

If it's really a combination of showtunes / rock n roll and euro-disco as you say, I might consider leaving it alone. I still love Luther's Georgy Porgy but if the rest is nothing like that I guess I'll think a bit more before I go out searching for it.
I'm still surprised Gwen Guthrie would do a bad track though :roll:

Her track isn't bad... it's just 'lifeless', like the lp. Whatever 'concept' Mr. Segal was going for I don't think he reached it. He's all over the place and the only cut with any substance is "GP".
