"Rock/Disco" continued

Well, read the first page of that post and alot of the "rosco" songs were indeed morning tracks. A few that i dont know if were mentioned or not are:
"Born Under Punches" - Talking Heads (which ive mixed into "The Break" pitched way down several times, ill drop the synth/string loop from kat mandu in perfect beat over and over throughout the heads track and then twards the end ill drop it in and continue on to kat mandu, gives a trippy what the hell?? effect, but sounds great)

"Reasons To Be Cheerful Part 3" - Ian Dury
"Rock The Casbah(Mustapha Dance)" - The Clash
"I Desire" - Devo
as for Roxy Music, "Angel Eyes" is disco on the 12 mix anyway and goes perfect mixing into it on the bongo break of Wonderland Band "Paradise Island Instrumental". "Dance Away" is more a mellow rock song unless u have the 12". The 12 is mixed perfect disco and huuuuuge bass responce, the long 2 min beat break in the middle (at about 3:17 into it) is good for almost anything to go there. The 2 i always love to go there are "Another Cha Cha" - Santa Esmeralda(taking it from the cha cha suite porsion) and "Chase" - Giorgio Moroder (slowed down). Anyway, getting off the subject but, just showing how i like to mix with some of these and how it works (if anyone didnt already know this..lol)

Bostich by Yello was one of my favorites, also This is Radio Clash - The Clash.

Those were two, twelve inch versions to have.

In Australia we had a rock/glam rock band called Sherbet who did some songs that were half disco/half rock such as:
Freedom 1974
Life 1975
Dancer 1976
Child's Play 1976
Howzat 1976

I'm not sure if any of you heard these songs since most were only hits in Australia, but some of you might have heard of "Howzat" since it became an international hit.

Some more rosco to mention are:

Sweet - Co-Co 1971 (This is like a combination of glam rock and salsa disco. I have the video clip of this on Top Of The Pops 1971, the Sweet use metal drums which gives it the salsa flavour.)

Stevie Wright - Evie Part 3 1974 (This is like a combination of hard rock and fast dancing disco. Part 1 is hard glam rock and Part 2 is a love song. He is also an Australian artist and almost became the lead singer of AC/DC but missed out and Bon Scott became the lead singer instead.)

"This Is Radio Clash" i have on the b side of the "Magnifisent Seven" 12". The version of "Radio Clash" is not really a 12 mix, but pts 1 and pt 2(which pt 2 is very rare now). Anyway, let me know if there was a true 12 mix. Also, "Bostich" by Yello i concidered eurodisco always, nothing to do with rock. Is there a version of that one longer than the 4:46 one? Let me know on both of these. As for "Black Betty", that song i cant see disco rock, its just a 1 hit rocker from 77.

Robert Fripp (yes, from the progressive rock super group KING CRIMSON) recorded an album in 1979 called GOD SAVE THE KING. Side one was a complete eletronic music voyage BRIAN ENO style. Side 2 had 2 long disco pieces with eletronic effects in the background (he called his eletronics, frippertronics). UNDER HEAVY MANNERS is one of these songs which would fit in the ROSCO tag. Unbelievalble, but he mentions this exact term in the inner sleeve of the LP. The vocals were done by DAVID BYRNE.

WOW!!!! Is this like eurodisco stuff?? Like Giorgio moroder?? Or like Jeff Wayne/Justin Hayward's "Eve Of The War"??
I love Talking Heads and things related. Let me know more info and i might have to track this down.

This is Radio Clash - Clash version that you're speaking about is the Epic Re-issue.

I have the original 12" of This is Radio Clash on Epic from 1981 CBS Records.

As far as Bostich - Yello, The other extended version came out on White Label as a sample loop produced by a DJ this year. I have two copies and it was done very well.

Ram Jam - Black Betty 12" Re-Issue on Epic was remixed and done nicely also. Different than the original, to which I can say was disco-oriented as a remix.

This is the same version of "This Is Radio Clash" that is on the reissue. "Radio Clash" is labeled with pt 2 beside it. Its shown with that exact time but the songs r split. The one stops and the other starts. It would have been cool if they made an actual extended mix. As for Bostich, i havent heard this new version. And "Black Betty" i never heard a remix. I must go check these out.

I can't remember the drummer, but I'll tell you later.

Then there is an eletronic backgroud which was previously recorded and then played along with the musicians.The eletronic thing (frippertronics) sounds a bit like an orchestral fill. But although it sounds interesting, when it comes down to listen it is not very relevant.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. There was no reason for Jimmy to start a new thread. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to his being young and a little naive. I'm sure Jimmy won't do it again-right Jimmy? Let's move on with this and not dwell on it.

PAUL DUSKIN - drums
DAVID BYRNE - vocals

I don't know why I was with the name Busta Rhymes in my head, so I posted wrong in the previous mail. Forgive.

The Brian Eno-like electronic side is just instrumental.

The disco (rosco) side has only 2 songs, one of them completely instumental called THE ZERO OF THE SIGNIFIED. The other one with Byrne vocals is called UNDER HEAVY MANNERS.

But I wouldn't recommend this album to anyone.

I've never heard this, but it couldn't possibly be more self-indulgent than Fripp's "Let The Power Fall" album, could it?

For what it's worth, I quite liked the work he did with Eno, particularly the track "An Index Of Metals". An awesome sonic trip made with nothing but one guitar and tape effects.

But despite being made with similar methods, "Let The Power Fall" is boring and painful to endure... 40 minutes of distorted guitar, building up "songs" one note at a time through tape loops. I almost tossed my turntable out the window the last time I tried to listen to this.

Well Graham... FRIPP & ENO's NO PUSSYFOOTING & EVENING STAR albums are really great. Of course, progressive rock fans find those very boring, but I really enjoy those guitar and tape loops, specially on Evening Star which I think it's more athmospheric and tripping.

Since you know their 3rd effort LET THE POWER FALL, then you can get an idea of album I've mentioned before int this thread (GOD SAVE THE QUEEN):

Side one has exactly the same sound (loops) as LET THE POWER FALL.

Side 2 has those loops (he call them frippertronics) aplied to a disco-beat (this album is from 1979 or 1980).

But as I said before, I wouldn't recomend it to anyone.

One album which is quite good is BRIAN ENO'S Discreet Music.
