Disco made in Japan

Pink Lady (Mie & Kei) Were Very Big in Japan in That "Disco Era" For Their Disco Music! Remember "Kiss in The Dark"???

A lot of rather jazzy disco funk were made by japanese artists in the early 80s. Whether those were actually living in Japan, I don't know.

for instance:
Yasuko Agawe - L.A. Nights
Casiopea - "The Soundography" and "Mid Manhattan"

I believe saxophone player Sadao Watanabe also dealt with the style. Worth checking out is the stuff Herbie Hancock did with japanese vocalist Kamiko Kasai.

None of these sound like Cerrone though! :lol:

On the jazz-funk side there's also a band called Hiroshima, formed by both Japanese and American players. However, they were formed in the L.A. scene and signed with Arista Records. Apparently they were very popular in Japan at that time.
