My memory is fading and I can't remember if we've had this one already. But Masdefi just said in another reply that he turned to disco/funk/soul because of Barry White.



I think it was the same for me in 1973. It was Love Unlimited's "Walking in the rain (with the one I love)", Barry's "Never gonna give you up" and Love Unlimited Orchestra's "Love's theme" which were all played extensively on pirate radio.



I just loved the lush orchestrations, tight bass and rhythm and deep sound. Not to mention the hidden promise of sex of course. Hey, I was just starting puberty so it didn't take much.



Perhaps this topic is a total dud but feel free to confess if you want.
