Apart from the Jeannette Lady Day cut I quess it's pretty much the same list with everyone who does 70's & early 80's disco nights should she or he bow down to the lowest common denominator, and on occasion we all do, don't we. Me & Mr Sanchez gets huge cheers as does Modern Romance's Everybody Salsa. Add Disco inferno by Trammps, Abba, Odyssey, some KC, Gloria Gaynor and Weather Girls and there you have it, the global retro party playlist, ad infinitum, like it or not.

However, cooler clubbers do go for the Other Disco as well, with hissing house-esque hi-hats, flying bongos and wah-wah guitars, afro chanting, thumping drums, maybe a bit of quality european cheese if you are that way inclined.

Surprised BLue Rondo A La Turk is such a biggie now. It was rather obscure BITD. I played it an awful lot, but none of my contemporaries in the area did.

Anyways, ya want commercial, here's a commercial 10, in no particular order.

Michael Jackson - Thriller (probably the longest lasting floorfiller I ever played)
Chic - Le Freak (Good Times was better, but this had more mass appeal)
Sugarhill Gang - Rapper's Delight (Good Times revisited)
Candido - Jingo ('82 remix especially)
Bohannon - Let's Start II Dance Again (another long timer, that did better in this rap version...Go bang that thing!)
Taste Of Honey - Boogie, Oogie, Oogie (I can't describe how this used to lift the atmosphere BITD; a real sudden whoosh as everybody, but everybody, would rush onto the floor)
Gibson Brothers - Cuba (a real party sound)
Arrow - Hot, Hot, Hot (a cue that the party had begun)
Human League - Don't You Want Me (a bona fide anthem that everyone sang along to)
Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Relax
