    Hi there,
this is a thread for "vinylistics"!! Does ever happen after buying a well wanted record, to go back at home, put the vinyl on the turntable and nooooooo.... the record has a not plane area and at each turn of the record the cartridge has a "hill" to pass?!?

Or sometimes the record is so conical that just get in contact only at the center hole area with the turntable rotating plate, so that if you are mixing and you hold with the finger and release the record won't start!?!

What do you do in those two situations???
    To buy another copy...
    Cheers

    Masdefi,
you can try this: put the record between two heavy (and wide enough) books, let them in a warm place (even at the sun light), wait some days (or weeks) and..... ta-da!!!! You'll have a new (and plane) record!!! It seems a litle nutty, but works!

I made that a couple of times and works properly.

    Good luck,

    Blaxman

    Blaxman is right.

Even better... Put the record vertically between two glasses with high pressure, and let it outside in the italian summer for about a week. Wonderful!!

I always do what the doctor tells me... and given that Blaxman says so, too leads me to believe this should work. But the wobble in my Martin Circus LP is pretty severe. Does it work for all wobbles...?

Maarten, I dont think this "technique" works to all kind of damaged records. :???: Think first, if you dont have nothing to loose, go ahead!
If you can try it with the glasses like said by Giovanni, better!

    Best wishes,

    Blaxman

P.S. Giovanni, I would like to let myself under the sun in italian summer. Not beetween the glasses, of course!

    Blax,

I don't think you need the italian summer actually. You are in Brazil, THE land of the sun!!
