Looking at the prices of the records you's mentioned particularly that $1800, all I can say is CRIKEY :o :o :o !!!!! I mean fair dinkum, to spend $1800 on a rekkerd you'd have to have rocks embedded in your brain blocking intelligence  !!! Now you's know why I download rare grooves off Soulseek    !!!!!
Fair dinkum that's just toooooooooooo bloody much even for a rare collectors item!!! $1800 will get ya a new computer, two DVD recorders, maybe even a widescreen TV!!! Then again, people pay ridiculous prices for rare stamps, same thing!
I'm a cheap arse bastard when it comes to buying records as I tend to buy from Salvos and markets. At the Salvos records go for 50 cents and in amongst a **** load of Kamahl and Barry Crocker records and other old farts music there are some cool disco/funk records that are in top notch condition (some without a scratch even) and they still go for 50 cents. I mentioned a couple of years back I bought Brass Constructions "I" and "III" albums there, 50 cents each and the rekkerds themselves are unblemished :D !!! Unfortunately nowdays the Wollongong Salvos only sell old farts music like classicals, hyms, marching brass bands, crooners and lots and lots of Kamahl records ARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHH    !!!!!! Nonetheless I come across a lot of goodies at the market for $1 to $5 and at the dump too but in Australian markets and Salvos and dumos there is no escaping Kamahl records AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH  !!!
Anyways in specialised record stores records go from $5 to about maybe $60 tops and that is still too much for me, I normally don't pay more than $10 for a record because as I mentioned I'm a cheap arse bastard
!!! The most I've payed for a record is $20 which was for Earth Wind & Fire's 1974 "Open Our Eyes" album at Good Groove Records in Sydney.
Back to the point, few hundred/few thousand dollars for a record I would say **** NO  !!!! That sort of money can cover maintenance on my car and my rent and other bills, plus that sort of money I would be wanting a DVD recorder so I can archive my vintage video collection for preservation!!!
