    Russian CDS

Someone I know on anotherr forum who is a big disco music fan has been passed this link for Russian CDs and he says the one he has seen (a Ritchie Family one) was not a bootleg and was a perfect print (both cd and casing). He found it on this link. He thinks it is the Russian Casablanca distributors, which looks like it from the names of the artists

I don't know if it is ok to post this. I am not connected in any way but thought some of you guys would be interested inteh albums (some of which I had never heard of)

Interesting list of cd's indeed including loads of titles I've never seen on cd before. He even listed both Life Is Music and the Petrus produced album by the Ritchie Family. The latter is impossible to find over here even on vinyl.
I know for a fact that the Laid Back albums listed were released on cd - I've seen them quite a few times in 2nd hand stores. I doubt they were released outside Denmark though (Laid Back were danes)

Unfortunately, the seller doesn't provide any info about labels of catalog numbers....all 'n all it's hard to say if these cd's are for real.
    There was life after disco!!

There is no such thing as a legal Russian cd from Casablanca records. 99,99% of Russian cds of foreign origin used to be bootlegs, now the percentage has fallen, only ever so slightly. Do not entertain any thoughts of purchasing legal Russian cds though, especially something like a Ritchie Family title. If it's rare it's a bootleg, 100% sure. I've come across quite a pile of that sort of stuff here, including Chilly, rare Cerrone etc, laid out on tables of thrift stores and junk markets, fresh across the border from some Ukranian factory via St Petersburg where your normal laws don't apply.

    What Jussi said.

To add to that, Casablanca records exists in name only today. Most of the records were licensed to different labels in Europe anyway. Russia is music piracy central; I have no doubt that these are poorly-done needle-drops.

Oh, and check GEMM et all for the Petrus-produced RF album. It did not sell in large numbers, and there are still cutouts to be had. This is how I got a sealed US copy for a reasonable price a couple of years ago.
