I'm a big fan of Linda Clifford, and it's really hard to choose one track.
My favourite one is "You are You are"
Then comes "Runaway Love", "Sunshine (Tom Moulton mix)", "I'm still in love with you", and "Don't give it up".
Can't believe one of my dream babes is 60 this year! :o
Well, I guess I'm no spring chicken either
Ahh...as for her disco music, I know If My Friends Could See Me Now was huge for her but I much prefer Runaway Love.
Find them and destroy them!

I\'m a Victim ( of th very Song I sing )
I'll pick Linda's contribution to the "Fame" movie soundtrack: "Red light".
BTW, I read here and there that Linda was Curtis Mayfield's favorite singer and a kind of Curtis protegé. Were they romantically linked?
I loves me some Linda Clifford....
RUNAWAY LOVE is my fave...such great lines "What color is your money? I like the color green. Sometime it be dat way")
DON'T GIVE IT UP - the sequel to "Runaway"...more fun trash talkin'.
DON'T COME CRYING TO ME - H-NRG from the DIVA.
RED LIGHT - (from "FAME")
SHOOT YOUR BEST SHOT(co-written by Isaac Hayes)
FROM NOW ON - early gem
My least fave....
IF MY FRIENDS COULD SEE ME NOW - a tune beloved by the FAN QUEENS!!!! :P :P :P
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
'Weve Got Our Chance' & 'A Night With The Boys' ( :o )from her under-rated '84 set 'Sneakin Out', & from her classic late 70s period 'Runaway Love' (this really is a classic!) & her version of 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' (this always reminds me of that Joan Rivers joke: 'Im not saying she's a slut but her legs have been apart longer than Simon & Garfunkel!)
...ya gotta beat the street......

Actually, those lines are from "Don't Give it Up".
Remember when we danced to "Red Light" at Remember The Party?
The proof is in the puddin'...
Baby, what a woman!
I have to say Runaway Love would be my #1. But, I remember falling for her with Gypsy Lady. The 'A' side of this 12", "If My Friends..." was only played upon request. Never liked it.
Don't Give It Up: All right girls, here we go again. Now tell me, what we gonna do with all these men. Love it. THIS IS CAMP.

man, I can't believe she'll be 60!.. I gotta say she's also one of my favorite disco divas.. her voice was just the right mix of sass and class.. 8)
I love a lot of her songs, but if I had to pick, in no particular order:
Turn The Key Softly
Only Fooling Myself
You Are, You Are
Runaway Love
Gypsy Lady
Hold Me Close
Don't Give It Up
Bailin' Out
Shoot Your Best Shot
I Want To Get Away With You
Don't Come Crying To Me
The Heat In Me
I pretty much enjoy every single album of hers that I have.. The only one I'm missing is her last one "My Heart's On Fire".. "..Heat In Me" was pretty good, so I guess the album can't be that bad..
You Are You Are....
amazing song.
Agreed.My least fave....
IF MY FRIENDS COULD SEE ME NOW -
I love Linda Clifford though. Still making some great records now and then![]()
Womb Prayer!
Remember the duet lp with Curtis Mayfield and Linda Clifford? I never owned it, but I remember seeing it quite a bit in the day.
Linda Clifford is sassy, scintillating, and sexy!
I'm in complete agreement with Marky as to her best tracks. I would also add "Hold Me Close" and "It Don't Hurt No More." That entire Isaac Hayes-produced LP is perfection.
"...then there's the kind that's gonna bring you diamonds and furs and all that. I'll tell you what I want you to do, girls, I want you to TAKE 'em!"
Nobody reads a man better!
Make that feeling come again!
