Hey guys, even we recognize that most dance songs (specially disco ones) have not worried a lot about lyrics. In fact, I read your lyric quiz postings 'cause many of the lyrics quoted sound quite comic, trashy, corny, kitsch, camp, or some other similar adjective.
So I propose you to quote any disco lyric that you feel the most ridiculous, or that just makes you laugh at. I'm sure there's aplenty!
I had not payed attention to disco lyrics till recently (English is my second language). But I always laugh at "He's the greatest dancer" by Sister Sledge. Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards are poets, really! My favorite part is the one that goes:

"He wears the finest clothes, best designers ever known
from his head to the end of his toe
    Halston, Gucci, Fiorucci..."

That rhyme between Gucci and Fiorucci is really something! Now I wanna read your favorites.

    OK, here goes:

As much as I admire his music, I do believe that Barry has about three lines, and he just uses them in random order.

Same for Maurice White, but for a different reason. He really went off to lala-land with lyrics like:

"Take a ride in the sky
    on our ship fantasii*
all your dreams will come true
    right away
    And we will live together,
    until the twelfth of never"

Huh? * - this is how they are written. Quiz: which song?

    Or:

"Take a chance, as you dance
    In romance, in a trance

    - so far so good... -

    To advance, and expand
Got a dime and a rhyme
    Brilliand mind still incline
    In your prime to design"

    What? Quiz - which song?

But my favorite 'strange' lyrics are (how seasonal!) Wham's "Last christmas". Has anyone ever noticed how George pronounces one very common word in a very strange fashion? Throughout the song!

    "Last chritmas I G A F you my heart..."

Gaf? Or Geffe? I'm trying to be phonetic... What is that all about?

    Fantasy

And now, for some more absurd or just plain silly lyrics:

    "He's a man of a man, woman..."
-- "Man of a man", by Dee D. Jackson... sounds like it was written my Ms. Swan!

    "Discocide!!! Boogie yourself to death!"
    -- "Discocide", by Roundtree

"I need someone to share my popcorn and jellybeans"
-- "Got To Love Somebody", by Sister Sledge. The liner notes on the CD even has a quote from Kathy Sledge saying "While I was singing it in the studio, I thought ‘I can think of a better line than this’".

But the one that takes the cake is...

"Yer ass is your ticket to paradise"
-- "Cherry Boy", by The Bob Crewe Generation

I am NOT making this up! Nor am I mishearing it... the album has the lyrics printed on the inner sleeve... for real...

...umh.. even if english is my third language, sometimes I try to understand the lyrics. Not always this is easy to me, even if I can understand the lyrics sometimes the meaning is not clear.
But I think also that we could not expect from a disco song a philosophy act or a teaching for the future!
But it made me laugh the line in the Geraldine Hunt's song "Can't fake the feeling" when she says "I know every inch of your body..." ha ha ha!!!

Another great disco song but with poor lyrics is Raydio's "It's time to party now" (even if I love that one) when the situation in the clus is quite well indicated:
"all the guys holding the positions" or "all the girls seem to have a secret plans", ha ha ha!!!

OK Maarten, the first song is EW&F "Fantasy". That was easy. The second one I have no clue.
I read in a book that George Clinton used to laugh at EW&F's lyrics and, reading some booklets of their CDs, I find that he's right. Even as it's one of my favorite bands.
Thanks all, some picks are fascinating! Even I know there's more...

The second song was "Magic Mind" from the "All 'n all" album.

This is not about silly lyrics, but more about lyrics in an un-intended silly context. I just remembered how guys used to 'mouth' (not actually sing of course) to songs when they were on the dancefloor back in my DJ-ing days. The funniest thing was when they would do this when I played "I'm so glad that I'm a woman" by Love Unlimited...

Right now I remember one song I used to play. It was pretty long and the instrumental parts were actually pretty good; lots of Latin percussion and some mean electric guitar riffs and solos.

The vocal part, however, left a lot ot be desired. The chorus went "Dance, now dance, now dance" in high-pitched female voices. That's all they said, over and over again!

I'm trying to remembr the name of the band I can't. I seem to remember it was one of those Italian groups... Does anybody remeber this one?

Another one: "SOUL DRACULA" by HOT BLOOD.

I cant remember the lyrics (thank god) but, the title speaks for itself.
