Just open up that .ram file in Notepad and copy and paste the URL in that file into your browser or RealPlayer and it will dl the entire clip.
marky got my drift exactly - all those simultaneous requests from one person pushed me midway to page two!
marky - you should be able to click on where it says 1-3, 4-6, 7-9 etc. and real player should start in a matter of seconds. nothing downloads on my computer except a teeny-weeny real audio media file that says 01.ram
i'm not sure what is happening on your computer - can someone else help him?
i actually WISH i could download those clips, because once the saintatlarge people change their page, the real audio clips will be useless.

hey bernie,
i'm trying to follow your suggestion, but i'm on a mac, and i don't think we have notepad. we probably have something similar, but i can't figure out what it is. when i try "open location," it gives me a url that's on my desktop and that's useless for downloading.
any suggestions?
Barry,
I'm on a Mac as well. If you are running OS-X simply open the .ram file in TextEdit and then copy that URL into your browser. You can also highlight the URL and drag it to your desktop as a text clipping. Let me know if that works.

those Black-Party-Clips are really something!I have the whole bunch
of clips on my desktop at home and at work and listen to them almost everytime these days.Aaaand, hopefully this is no doubleposting:
The Audio clip one (5:48 of clip1, the dark italo-disco-style) is a song by Giorgio Moroder and found on the soundtrack "Cat people".
By the way..THANX A LOT 4 THE REALAUDIO-DOWNLOAD-HINT,BERNIE....WHEW, THAT´S AWESOME, IT WORX!
All the best![]()
SFBEARY i still cant play music on my p.c since it was attacked though im half way there now at least i can see files are opening though still no sound,so i want to ask are YOU asking who is the female version of heaven in the afternoon?
glad you're making progress on the computer front.
*I* know who did the female version of "heaven in the afternoon" - a rude mofo who thinks i'm his slave is the one who doesn't - he thinks he's still at the black party :-?
OK, I'm finally listening to the first one. Sheeesh, what an ordeal to get this to work. The problem was with the sound. There was none. Now we've fixed that problem.

I'm a little confused. I copied the link and pasted it in my browser. The Real Player came up and started playing the clip. Where is it being downloaded or saved for future listening?Originally Written by Bernie
can someone on a PC help nrgbeat? - i'm a MAC daddy.
I tried on my pc but I'm getting the same thing as nrgbeat. :o No download capability.
You guys,
hopefully anybody will solve the missing riddles of the BlackParty-Mixes soon.
For the rm-download issue: This is how it worked on my PC.....maybe this puts the
whole technical-huppy-fluppy to an end.
I´m no expert on this,so handle with care, and if by any way some things are messed up in the end,
don´t blame me....harharhar.And..please excuse my english.
First of all:I really recommend to use MOZILLA as your browser. It´s definitely great,i myself am not using the Internet Explorer any more.It works with tabs (no nasty confusion with
many windows), has a working popup-blocker, your bookmarks can be really organized...and so on.
The fine thing for this purpose is: It always prompts you to decide if you want to download the rm-file or open
it with real-player.You can save your setting and even manipulate it afterwards (just go to edit-> preferences-> navigator-> smart browsing).
If you hang to your INTERNET EXPLORER by any reason...this is the way it goes:
Minimize everything until you see your dektop.Start at the bottom left.
Now choose: Start-> Programs-> Accessoires-> Windows Explorer
Now go to the menu at the top and choose Tools-> Folder Options
Change to the File Types-Tab
Scroll down until you see RAM in the Extensions-entry and click on it (turns to blue)
Push the Advanced-Button (at the lower right)
Now you´re almost done...:-)....
Activate "Confirm open after download"
Close all windows and try again....
Good luck and all the best
Welllll, I tried this and I still can't get it to download.
I don't get any message asking if you want to download either.
hey guys,
fourteen hours worth of real audio clips of the March 1983 Black Party at the Saint with DJs Chuck Parsons & Wayne Scott can be heared on this site:
http://www.saintatlarge.com/main.htm
the real audio clips can be found by clicking on the home page bar where it says "05.Radio" - some of us have been able to download the clips, but everyone should be able to at least hear them.
i'm still stumped at a few places - particularly during the first and last of audio clips that comprise nearly the entire night's marathon.
i'll send my nearly complete tracklisting to anyone who can properly ID the cuts i don't know:
Audio Clip One:
1:21:46 instrumental snippet of next track
1:22:45 Italo male vocal - i can't understand a thing he's singing!!!!!
2:00:00 this is early '80s Italian disco in the style of Ceslo Vali - the refrain is "You Better Straighten Out Baby" - this one's driving me crazy because i know it and i'm pretty sure i have it, but i still can't figure it out! i think it might be an album track.
2:20:20 Italo instrumental
2:34:25 Italo instrumental
Audio Clip Four
1:52:25 early '80s male R&B disco-funk very much in the style of the Whispers - the refrain is "You Gotta Walk Through It to Get to It" - this goes to show how the Saint's music policy could include a few soulful surprises amidst the disco NRG.
Audio Clip Five
41:00 - this is another nice one - it's an old-school soul diva from the same school as Denise LaSalle and Millie Jackson, and the refrain is "I've Got News For You, You Can Go Back" - if i don't own this already, i should!
56:25 - rough male vocal with cheesy early '80s synth-rock arrangement - the chorus features the phrase "I Don't, I Don't Need No Money"
thanks again to everyone who has been able to help me, and thanks to those who might be able to help with what's left!
might be Take 5 b-side of 'The word is out' 1981 Destiny Records.
Also, I've listened to the one on clip one @1.22.45. It is so difficult to make out what he's singing but I think it might be 'The night chill, the nights real' . Of course i could be totally wrong as I first thought he was singing 'He likes me, he likes you'!
