    New to the scene!

Hi everyone...just found this site and it looks great, very informative. I collect soul and funk 45s here in Ohio and while my preferences started with 60s r&b and girl groups, I gradually developed a taste for jazz and funk and now i'm easing my way into some disco...so here I am. In my vinyl digging I recently came up with a stash of pretty interesting stuff...can anyone on here offer any info? I came up with a small stack of promo 12"s and a bigger stack of weird small label 45s from the mid seventies. Many of them are not my sound (yet?) as I am still stuck in James Brown circa '72 mode, but many of them I can dig...Is there anyone who collects disco 45s? I've found discographies online for 12" singles, but I can't find much in the way of Lps or especially 45s for that matter...anyway, here's some of the more interesting looking/sounding stuff i found:

    Matrix-5 "The Bicentennial Boogie" Len-Mat Sound 45
(Killer! Amazing! obviously from 1976 or so, but just amazing femme funk!)

Frankie Gee "Be My Baby" Lipstick Rec's 45

The Chimes Family "Peg O' My Heart" Monica Rec's 45
Camp Galore "Boop Boop A Hustle" D&M Sound 45
Smoggs "Gotta Have A Talk With the Peanut Man" Event Rec's 45 (a Jimmy Carter reference? nabbed a couple of these novelty records"

Jr. Jackson "L-O-V-E Spells Hurt" Raintree 45
Dino Solera and the Munich Machine "Classicaly Elise" Hidden Sign 45
Willie James "Sweet Lips, Sensuous Hips" Greg 45
Splash "I Only Want To Be With You" Maria 45
Dooley Silverspoon "Let Me Be The #1" Cotton
Billy Jones "Groovy Day" Vibration 45
All Points Bulletin Band "Sexy Ways-Pretty Legs. Pt. 2" LCR 45
Lenny Bailey "Do It With Me 1 & 2" R&R (weird 45rpm, 7", but with small hole"
Earl Connelly "Don't Let Me Go" Maycon 45
    CJ & Co. "Devil's Gun" Westbound 45
.....no artist "Get Down Tonight" Hoctor 45
Debbie Hines "Get Off Your Butt" Keck 45
    B.C.G. "Street Talk" 20th Century

    Twelve Inches
    Eastbond Expressway "Rainstorm" Vinylmania
Teri De Sario "The Stuff Dreams Are Made Of & Ain't Nothing Gonna Keep Me From You" Casablanca (one sided 12""
    Edward Birdsong "Goldmine" Philadelphia Intl
Denise LaSalle "PARTY (Where It Is) ABC
Metal Weeds "Sunshine Love" RCA (one of my favorites I've found"
Jimmy Dockett "Different Moods" Star Vision LP
    D&M "On The Shelf" Polydor
Black Light Orchestra "Touch Me, Take Me" RCA
    Claire "High On Love" Prelude
    Bumblebee Unlimited "Lady Bug" RCA
David Simmons "Will They Miss Me/Hard and Heavy" Fantasy WMOT
Mass Production "Love You" Cotillion (Really Like this Track!)
Claudja Barry "I Will Follow Him" TSR
George McRae "My Love, My Life, My Soul" TK Disco
    Floaters "Levitation" MCA
    Pam Todd "Baise Moi" Channel
Jean-Michel Jarre "Equinoxe Part 5" Polydor
    Dream Express "Midnight Dream" MCA
    Disconnection "Disconnection" Prelude LP
CJ & Co. "Devil's Gun" Westbound LP

anyway...that's some of what I've come up with. I'll be exploring this site a lot so i'm sure i'll learn a bit about the records from that...but any info you have would be invaluable! (Especially that Matrix-5 45!) Thanks..

    Chris,

Welcome to the site! Not familiar with the 45s though other members will surely reply.

The Metal Weeds 12 inch of Sunshine Love is great! The 12 inchers you list are quite broad in terms of style so you are off to a good start as you have a small sampling of everything. Once you have a firmer idea of style that you like you can ask us for similar items. Look forward to your posts.
