I was thinking Roberta Flack, "Don't Make Me Wait Too Long", but the lyrics don't match. Sorry. :(
Please help me identify this song.
Baby, please, don't make me wait too long, 'cause without you i can't be strong, you're number one for me, and I need you so desperately....
female vocalist, orchestrated song, long bridge.
Thank you.

Geez, this sounds soooo familiar. I know I know it...but the title eludes me.
it's that "you're number one for me and I need you so desperately" that's gonna bug me all night!!!!!
The title is not in those lyrics, I don't think--but it's like the next phrase it seems...but what's the next phrase????!!!!!!!!!
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
OK, this bugged me for a half hour...it's just come to me...
"Girl, Don't Make Me Wait" by Pattie Brooks. :D :D :D
Whew!!!!! I feel better now.![]()
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Boy you promised me, that one day you'll be,the love I can ....Every time I ask, are you ready for love, yuou tell me that you need more time,
Baby Please, don't make me wait too long, 'cause without you I can't go on, , you're number one for me, and I need you so desperately
As days go by, and I find that my, love for you is getting stronger, But the only thing you say to me, ishold on a little bit longer,
Baby, please...
no more, please don't make me wait, this lonliness, I can't take, ......
Baby, please...
la la la la.....
Baby, please...
The music between phrases is phenomeinal. It is orchestrated with some string sections. I think it is the best disco song ever.
Uh, it's produced and orchestrated by Simon Soussan, who also did Arpeggio, Jessica Williams, French Kiss, early Shalamar. Very Spanish guitar/flamenco-ish arrangement.
As I mentioned earlier it's by Pattie Brooks from 1977
4. Girl Don't Make Me Wait [Extended Dance Mix] performed by Pattie Brooks - 10:52
The year before her "After Dark" was released.
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Markydefad, consider yourself a disco genius. I have searched many disoco sites and lists, and this song has never come up or been identified. Thanks a million!
Thanks, Manipulator. I'm no disco genius, believe me. But I do like this song and listen to it occasionally on my way to work.![]()
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Do you know if it is available on CD?
Bernie (Bernard Lopez)
Owner/publisher of DiscoMusic.com - on the web since 1996.

It's on the Billboard Top Dance Hits-1977 CD (full length version 10:52); I still see these at Amoeba Records here in LA.
Some cuts are edits--but this cut is in it's full-length glory.
By the way, the song was written by Leon Huff of Gamble/Huff fame. Bunny Sigler recorded this first; later Bo Donaldson & The Heywoods & Timebox did it.
Hence, the "Girl" in the title (since males sang it originally)..which Pattie doesn't sing and makes it hard to figure the title out...she says "Baby, please"...![]()
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Miss Brooks mustn't be from the same side of the duvet as Nona Hendryx & Hazel Dean then!![]()
...ya gotta beat the street......
