    Some new buys

These are the LPs I grabbed during the last months. I will qualify them with my "smily test" as usual:

    8) Excellent
    :D Very good
    :) Good
    :-? Almost good
    Well...
    Oh God...
    Holy ****...

    Also these two:

    :o Surprise!
    :P Kitsch value

BILLY PAUL - Only the strong survive (1977) :D
    RHYTHM HERITAGE - Disco-fied (1976)
    DEODATO - Two (1974) :)
    DEODATO - First cuckoo (1975) :D
    TAVARES - Love storm (1977) :)
    INSTANT FUNK - Instant Funk (1978) 8)
    GEORGE MCCRAE - Rock your baby (1974) :D :o
    USA-EUROPEAN CONNECTION - Come into my heart (1978) :-?
BEBU SILVETTI - El mundo sin palabras de Bebu Silvetti (1976) :) :o :P
THE RITCHIE FAMILY - Arabian nights (1977)
    GONZALEZ - Haven't stopped dancing yet (1978) :-?
GIBSON BROTHERS - On the Riviera (1980) :)
QUEEN SAMANTHA - II (1979)
    CHIC - Chic (1977) 8)
    RICHIE HAVENS - Connections (1980) :)
PETER JACQUES BAND - Fire night dance (1978) :o

I bought "Fire night dance" after reading so many comments about it in the forum, and it has Petrus & Malavasi, and the Macho guys in the acknowledgements, and still... I don't get it  I played it 3 or 4 times and I just get bored.
On the other side, "Rock your baby" ended being a much better record than what I thought. Side A is practically perfect.
And what can I say of fellow Argentinian Bebu Silvetti? I found I already knew almost all songs from hearing them on TV in my childhood, in shows where the anchor greeted people invited with a tuxedo and a martini in hand! And still he has a knack for the melody: "Contigo" is worthy of being composed by someone like Ennio Morricone, but it's all Bebu's glory. 8)

I love your rating system! :)

The only one I have out of all of them is the Chic self-titled album.. I rate it " 8) " too hehe.. I'm waiting for my copy of the USA-European Connection album.. I only have a couple of Midney records (Beautiful Bend and Pinnochio), I guess "Come Into My Heart" probably doesn't measure up..

Well, "Come into my heart" has a nice melody... Now, to stretch it all through an entire album side...
I'm not so big a fan of the Miami sound anyway. Maybe you'll like it more than I do.

Don't worry Discodisk, things down here are bad as always Don't forget these titles I didn't buy in CD form; they're cheap vinyl found at the Sunday fair (one or two pesos each; paid $ 3 per disc only for Donna and Peter Jacques Band).
This last two years I buyed only vinyl and CD-Rs. And now shhhh, maybe the RIAA's reading this :o

"Come Into My Heart" is a great tune, but the LP version is waaaayyy too stretched out IMHO. There is a long, almost minimal-house part in the middle where not much happens. This is ideal for DJs who want to throw in other stuff, but it makes for pretty tedious listening on its own. The single edit is awesome though.

I've got the 'Come Into My Heart' LP & I prefer the other 'Baby Love' side myself. I've never heard the other USA-European Connection LP; can anyone tell me what it's like please? (sorry Nano for turning your thread into a Midney fest! )

It's good, although not as good as Come Into My Heart. I'd peg it as at-par Midney. I do absolutely love There's A Way Into My Heart though... that one makes the album worthy IMHO.

Thanx Graham. I'd love to get the CD re-issues of Midney's work but they seem to be as rare as the proverbial hen's teeth; why did they delete them so quickly? :(
