    CRISCO DISCO

Does anyone remember Crisco's? I don't remember the address. I think it was somewhere south of the meat-packing district in a big old warehouse. Perhaps the far-west side of Canal Street? What a place; three bars and a VIP room upstairs and the biggest dance floor in town (and ANOTHER bar) downstairs. The DJ booth was atop a ten-foot tall exact replica of a can of Crisco (with the cherry pie on the front). Before I post it to "Night Clubs" I want to get the rest of my data straight. I recall leaving that club at 10:30 in the morning, bleary-eyed and completely exhausted, and seeing people crisply-dressed, briefcase in hand, on their way to work.
    - Yours, musically

I was there a few times before being taken to 12 West for the first time. It was convenient. I lived on 17th and Ninth so I didn't have far to stumble...

    Crisco Disco-the best

This was the best dance club in the city! The beat was
terrific and it had the best staff! They started selling sun glasses at one point! Truly a gem in the night life!
Danny Rodreguiz was fantastic. I fondly remember dancing
    away there! West 15th!

Michael "Copa" Haynes was a good friend. He passed away several years ago. I met him while working the Anvil. At that time he was one of their dancers/entertainers. He got the name "Copa" because he would come out on stage in this white-on-white tux and do "Copacabana". I remember when he left to start pursuing his dj career. He, his lover, Bob, me and mine could spend a literal fortune in the record stores if we went together. Usually Bob (also a dj) and I did it well enough on our own, throwing hundreds away because we 'had to have it'. :D

My memory: Walking into Crisco's and seeing Michael on top of that can. I had to scream.
