Two unknown songs... sample mp3s linked...

Okay guys, I've got a stumper for ya... especially if you're not into more modern music. This is pure 70s loungecore reincarnated into a 2003/2004 style, and provided here for your listening pleasure.

What I want to know are the track names of these two tracks I'm posting, and the ARTIST. Both of these I am pretty convinced are the same artist because of the style similarities, and I am almost sure it is the same vocalist.

Unknown1.mp3, recorded off Paris Radio FG 98.2FM on 5/18/2004. The mp3 is about 5 megs, about 5 minutes in length.

Unknown2.mp3, recorded off Paris Radio FG 98.2FM on 1/18/2004. The mp3 is about 3 minutes, 3 minutes in length.

Even if you guys can't ID this stuff, any leads, no matter how small, I would absolutely love to hear. And, if you don't, at least enjoy the tracks... I've got these burned to CD for play in my car.

Track 2 is 'It's Your Love' by Ethel Beatty, written and produced by Roy Ayers, from 1981. It's on a few compilations and the original 12" was recently bootlegged.

Track 1 is, I think, from Roy Ayers' 'Virgin Ubiquity' compilation, which came out on BBE last year.

Wow... thank you for the quick reply. The next question should be then, what is the genre? I wouldn't quite classify this as disco...

As for Roy Ayers, I've heard the name before, but I never associated it with such utterly awesome music... is this typical of Ayers? If so, christ, I gotta pick up these compilations...

Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!!!!

Roy Ayers originated in the jazz field, recording with Curtis Amy, Jack Wilson & Vi Redd (and making his first album as a leader in 1962). He was part of Herbie Mann's band for a few years and recorded a handful of LPs in the US and Japan (for United Artists, Atlantic & Nippon Columbia), before bringing his own group to Polydor in 1970. The '70s LPs with his Ubiquity collective are potent mixtures of soul, jazz, funk and disco. He had a very identifiable style compostion-wise, musically and vocally and is a hero of the jazz/funk and soul idioms.

He cut quite a few disco sides in the latter '70s - 'Running Away', 'Get On Up, Get On Down', 'Don't Let Our Love Slip Away', 'Fever' and many more. In 1980, he set up his own labels, Uno Melodic & Gold Mink, which brought us the '80s Ladies, Sylvia Striplyn, Rick Holmes (Cannonball Adderley's MC), Justo Almario, Jaymz Bedford, Ethel Beatty and established artists like Bobbi Humphrey and Fela Kuti.

With so many of his age group, the '80s weren't too fantastic for Roy - and after his 'Feeling Good' and 'Lots Of Love' LPs (both 1982), he slowly descended, lemming-like, into the inevitable quagmire of electronic blandness.

The recent 'Virgin Ubiquity' LP is a compilation of previously unissued cuts. The standards are very high and despite the cheap, uninspired packaging, it's a classic LP in the making. Roy Ayers' '70s rejects are blowing so many others from that period out of the water, it's untrue.

The man's a genius - and you've really got some catching up to do.
