It was tough really tough not to select a single Blaze ans MAW track ... but 10 tracks are ten tracks, and there was no room anymore.

Very tough choice indeed. I'll stick to the 80s early 90s for this one.

    in no particular order:

    - Frankie Knuckles Feat Satoshi Tomie - Tears
    - Chanelle - One Man
    - Blaze - So Special
    - Wally Jump jr & The Criminal Element - Ain't Gonna Pay You One Red Cent
    - Mr Fingers - Can U Feel It

    - Phase II - Reachin'
    - Ten City - That's The Way Love Goes
    - Farley Jackmaster Funk Feat. Jessie Saunders - Love Can't Turn Around
    - Sybil - Let Yourself Go
    - J.A. Groove - Release The Tension (which i STILL Can't find anywhere :x )

The Wally Jump track was a spoof of Gwen Gutrie's "Ain't Nothing Goin' On But The Rent" feat. Will Downing on Vocals. I've never seen a 12" version of this. Does anybody know if one was ebver released??

:-? WOW! What a tough question. But as I think back, here is my list of ten favorites in no assemblance of order:

1.) Move your body - Marshall Jefferson
2.) Luv Dancin' - The Underground Solution
    3.) Lovely one - Blaze
4.) Look ahead - Danny Tenaglia
5.) Critical - Wall of sound
6.) Right back to you - Ten City
    7.) Mystery - Phase 2
8.) Earth People - Earth People
9.) Song of the siren - Aphrodisiac
    10.) Tears - Frankie Knuckles

I know there are some I've probably missed, but then again, which ones would I remove? One tough question.

    Easy,

OMG I've been looking for that "Let Me Be Your Underwear" song for ages now but I had no idea who actually made it.
    Thanks for listing it Steely.

Looking at the lists posted until now, it's seems to me that Ten City is probably one of the most popular house artist/groups among DM members...almost every list has at least one of their tracks on it. Gotta love that! :)

I'm not even sure some of my choices were strictly house music really; I s'pose some people would class Chanelle or Dayeene as US garage & Soul Searcher as nu-disco. I get so fed up of all these categories & sub-genres, don't you? :-? Wasn't it great when it was just plain old disco. :P

K-bee, it doesn't surprise me that Ten City are popular here as I always thought there sound was almost a 'disco-revival' thing (very reminiscant of Salsoul or Sylvester IMO!)

I thought I'd do another top ten list for the year 2000 and beyond, since my first one was an all 80s list.

    here goes.....
    (random order)

    1. Kenny Bobien - Why We Sing (Church Mix)
    2. Blaze - Breathe (Ashley Beedle's Exhale Vocal Mix)
    3. Teddy G - Brazilian City
    4. Reel People Feat. Jag - Second Guess (Blaze Shrine Vocal)
    5. Barbara Mendes - Got To Be In Love (Main Mix)
    6. Kyoto Jazz Massive - Afro Blue (Album Version)
    7. Voices Feat. Michelle Weeks - Can You See The Light (Kings Of Tomorrow Mix)
    8. Tiefschwartz Feat. Joy Denalane - Music (Piano Latin Mix)
    9. Slippery People Feat. Leroy Burgess - Sweet Thing
    10. Soulplanet Jazz Ensemble Feat. Xavior - Sugar Baby Darling (Latin Jazz Mix)

Now I just have one question....why do the the artists and track titles have to be so damn long? At least Stevie W got it right when he wrote "As"

I agree with the sub-genre issue Steely, guess it's just a way for music journalists and record labels to describe what they actually hear or release. Sadly they leave most of the record buyers behind labeling music with these hard to understand style describtions.

I totally forgot Joey Negro's 'Love Fantasy'. This has to be one of the best post-'disco' disco records!

DB BOULEVARD - Point Of View
This track is the remake of another house track by Phoenix, called "Heat Wave".

DB Boulevard paly it one octave above, and added the vocals.

Oh my god, Nitro Deluxe brings back memories. When I first heard it, it seemed so subversive & weird at the time with its distorted Lolleatta Holloway sample & I remember thinking how exciting it was that dance music was constantly changing & evolving into something new. However, 17 years later house is still around & although I'm not a house hater, I do wish we could move on to the 'next thing' like we constantly did in the 80s. :(
