LOL these auctions are getting totally out of hand!
No disc is worth $717!!
what could explain such an absurd price (except A LOT of drugs, of course . . . )
is this version any different than the lp?
was it a "classic" on the rare groove scene?
a promo-only mix?
?????
i tried looking for this auction, but couldn't find it.

Are you fuckin' serious??!!!!!!
I paid...two English pounds for that LP in 1992...I didn't recognise any of the tracks when I saw the thing in the shop - Just her name. When I got home and played it..."baby..." sounded vaguely familliar to me.
The people who pay that sort of sheckles are just outers!!!
That is ridiclous. Is it from Lover Fever and it is any different from the LP version? I can't remember a UK 12" selling for anything like that before!
Leather is the way forward!
its not a special version at all but it was a promo but so what even a promo of this is not that rare, its plain looking too i have one, plain white label, artist/title stamped on plain white sleeve i also have a u.s white prelude 7" promo and on that you get the same long version so id have thought that more desirable
this guy is a big u.k dealer selling mainly northern soul im not going to mention his site here for two reasons bernie will be doing handstands in the garden and i wont give him the publicity as hes the only u.k dealer ive ever had a problem with, lets just say that the idiot who paid all this money for an excellent copy will probibly find that the record looks like somebodys eaten bacon and eggs off it :o but if anyone really wants to know this site p.m me and ill tell you
i and many others are constantly amazed at the prices people are bidding some other recent not so rare 7" disco records hes sold
the futures-party time man-philly int $320 :o
prince phillip mitchell-im so happy-atlantic $946 :o :o
and heres one for SFBEARY :P
brown sugar-the game is over-capitol promo $1057 :o :o
and LEATHERMAN/FORRRCE by contrast something that he sold for about the SAME price as gayle adams alfie davison-love is a serious buisness u.s 12" test press....which of the two would you have paid $717 for  no contest !!
I'd have gladly paid for it with Leatherman's (or anyone else's money) for that matter, Discodisk - but not mine! The 7" I have will have to suffice. I think Leatherman found his quite cheap, anyhow. It was always a record I was looking out for - a northern dealer offered 'any record I wanted' in 1986 for it. He had serious contacts and records, so if he couldn't find it, I knew it was a hard one.Originally Written by DISCODISK
Sorry to be cryptic, but would this UK dealer with Gayle Adams have a surname akin to a 'male sailing vessel'?????
By the way, paying those prices in nothing short of foolery - I really don't get it - what is wrong with these people?
madness - sometimes i've shelled out 50-60 bucks for a really hard 12 to find, but HELLO!!!!!!!
don't worry - it's just cause those poms don't get enough sun! ;-)

Dear God! Now I know why this record is nowhere to be found. Really wish now I'd taken better care of those little 7"s. :(Originally Written by DISCODISK

don't you just love hearing sh*t like that about records you already own?!?
Is this on e bay DD?
I was watching a copy of the Brown Sugar 7" about a month back, it went for around $175 I thought? The Prince Phillip price also seems well, well over what I've seen that record sell for on e bay - which is normally one of the most expensive places for these sort of rarites.

This is similar to drug dealing: (No, Buckaroo is not mad) I mean that in the way that if the demand for these choonz were cut off, then I'm sure certain unscrupulous sales persons wouldn't be able to profit from the stupidity of certain plebs out there in the world.
I for one, would scout round a few good music fares for any hard to find choonz. Usually, you can haggle off a few quid, as these guys don't wanna lug the same records back home with 'em.
this guy now has a u.s prelude stock copy 7" on there and already its $357 with 10 days to go :o not bad for a ten dollar record !
BTW this guy sometimes sets up a record stall in clubs he pins rare records up on the wall behind him, everyone calls it the wailing wall
honestly (no offense to anyone) I don't think i'd pay too much for anything by Gayle Adams.. I got one of those 2on1 CDs of her Prelude material, I found most of it to be kind of average and formulaic.. but that's just me![]()
The first LP has some stonking good commercial disco on it. The second one has quite a few decent ballards too. But no way is it worth the kind of cash it's raising on ebay. If I wanted to splash-out some hard earned...I'd buy some vintage Roy Ayers. But I don't have money to waste.
I think one of the reasons for the hi $ plates, is because we "the disco record chaters" make such a fuss of rare, but not pricless discs. ive see us talking about a few things that were not too rare, then BOOM! its on ebay, and the seller made a down payment for his new car. and we helped made it happen.
im not saying we should stop talking about the gems, but i somtimes feel i'm letting the cat out of the bag.
and maybe i should just shut up.
