I'll pick the big hits here:

DANCE DISCO HEAT (Always liked this one, and I heard it "back in the day")
(YOU MAKE ME FEEL) MIGHTY REAL (A true disco - hi energy classic, never get tired of this one)

I also like MAGIC NUMBER, his collaboration with HERBIE HANCOCK.

SYLVESTER was a great singer with a beautiful, high-pitched voice.

    Re: Favorite Sylvester Song??

    Ive got to be honest.
    Im totally obscessed with Sylvester.
I listen to several of his songs a day.
I have his music blasting in my car and in my house.
I always have his music in my mind, and I sing his music all the time.

And Im TOTALLY BUMMED that he died!
Its so horrible that such a talented man was taken from us.

I cant narrow down my song to a favorite because I like so much of it so much. I like his STEP II album the most, and songs like GRATEFUL and the other songs on side 2 are absolutely amazing! Theres no need for me to praise the songs on side 1. We all know they are the best disco songs of all time.

I do want to mention some other awesome songs not mentioned here.
I CANT BELIEVE IM IN LOVE is another great one. I love the way he changes his voice toward the end of the song and finishes it in his regulr barritone voice. I also like THINKING RIGHT. And as mentioned before, I NEED YOU and I WHO HAVE NOTHING are also great songs. The list of great songs could go on and on, but theres are just a few that came to mind at the moment.
And yes, I also like his 80s music. I never thought that I would, but I do. ITs great stuff and Syllvester kept to a disco sound even in those times and I think thats admirable.

One final note: I noticed that in Sylvesters 70s music he sounds more relaxed. But in his 80s music, he screams more. Perhaps it was because he wasnt as relaxed knowing his days were numbered?

    RIP Sylvester

    A final note

While not being a big Sylvester fan and recognising that 'Disco Heat' and 'Mighty Real' are true disco classics and great songs, my favourite is far and away 'Was It Something I Said' from 1978. Much more soulful.

ROCK THE BOX is awesome. I did read in an interview at the time that Sylvester himself really did not like that track so much or the album either.

:icon_cool: :icon_cool: :icon_cool: . Sylvester's got plenty of catalogue to be entertained by on an ongoing basis...
I can't help wondering what took you so long to respond to the thread DRP???

I also think the world of Sylvester .... so what do you think of his version of MENERGY ?? Upon learning of this version ... (only recently ) ... and after giving it some play .... I've reluctantly decided he just doesn't deliver on this one . I guess Cowley and gang felt this way too ....because they ultimately came out with a version not by him . I wonder how all that came down ? ( uh sorry ... Sylvester ol' girl ...but we've decided to redo MENERGY uh .... without your lead )

His vocal somehow isn't strong enough and just doesn't put the needed "N" in MENERGY ......

    ******

I don't know his song CALL ME but if ts the only one you don't like , it must really be a stinker .....
