I'd say any french disco song goes in this forum no matter where it comes from.
Actually I prefer all Kate Ryan's versions over Mylene Farmer's original releases (Désenchantée, Libertine). Her latest remake of "Ella, elle l'a" is just a blast, take a look at this .. .. .. ..
If you buy this record your life, will be better.
how about:
jackie quartz "a la vie a l'mour"
i realize this might not be considered "disco" per se, but this and "emotion" were pretty popular in the late '80's.
The PWL mix of "a la vie" is spectacular to my ears at least.
"Because there's music in the air."
Taco is German singer born to Dutch parents in Indonesia. - Talking of Putting On The Ritz there is also a similar themed 1978 12" from France called "Hollywood Boulevard", by Marc Chantareau plus other members of the Voyage troupe. The record has two c. 6 minute long medleys of 30's Hollywood tunes like "42nd Street" and "Shanghai Lil", centered around an original theme. Kinda like Wing & Prayer Fife and Drum Corps with a heavier beat. Not bad but nothing too spectacular, either. But what about that "Carioca/The Continental" 7" by Valentine French, imo a more succesful euro attempt to revamp Hollywood sounds?

"Everyone knows the real reason why you got that part it was the time you spent on that casting couch"--Antoine Merriwether
"Excuse me, Miss Thing, but both of us spent time on that couch"--Blaine Edwards
I hadn't heard this track until recently. It's a great remake! Man, the rhythm track is as good as Gaynor's version! I can't quite place it's production, but it sounds eerily like some of the late 70s Sigma stuff.
