[Track-Search] Let's have a party (short Clip inside)

    Hi everyone!

I hope someone can help me! I'm searching for a rare disco track of which i have only a short sample clip.

    http://www.maxtonbrix.de/phunkmaz/Letshaveaparty.mp3

In this clip you can hear a vocal:
    Let's have ... a party ... tonigh

This sound clip is from a german disco video mix called "Disco Inferno" and in this mix is a short music video with some girls dancing on the streets with rollerblades.

I know it´s just a few info, but maybe there is someone ho can help me, because I can´t sleep anymore.

    Thx PhunkMaZ (from Germany)

PS: Sorry for my english :)

    EDIT:

There's a House Version from a german house label called Milk & Sugar. Here you can her some other vocals

    Star City - Let's have a party

the original is "Let's Have A Party" by Danielle, a trio of women on Casablanca Records from 1980. it was released on an album in america without a 12" i believe - in the uk it was released on a 4-track 12" with "funkytown," an album track from the second lp by ultimate, and a long medley from evelyn thomas. it was a GREAT track that got lost (at least in america) after disco was declared "dead."

your first sound clip may not even be the original - in 1993, an english act called Hustler's Convention sampled a HUGE chunk of it and released it under the name "Hustlers Party."

It's also possible that Star City is the group you're looking for. I can't confirm because I don't have this track by them but they were on the club scene in the late 70s with Florida's TK/Marlin label..

It is Danielle, I checked it as I have on the UK Casablanca 12" which sfbeary referred to.

This UK 12" must be very different from the lp cut because I was just going to post that it wasn't Danielle. I'm only comparing the 7-second sample he posted. I don't hear the handclaps, the looped voice before the chorus, plus the key/tempo is different. Of course, that could be heavy pitching.

Maarten --- does the 12" have 'remix' info? The album track is 6:59, no mix credits given.

BTW: BOBBY VITERITTI GETS 'SPECIAL THANKS' ALONG WITH OTHERS FOR MAKING THE LP POSSIBLE. :D

You're so right! This sounds great and though I have the track marked for 'play', I honestly didn't remember it when I put it on. Too bad 'cause it's that sweet, fully orchestrated stuff that I really like.

Jeez, all you Jessica Fletchers & Miss Marples & Snoop Sisters are really on it today. I sure don't think I ever heard of this track. That Bobby V was somehow involved makes me wonder. :o I woulda thought he'd have played it. Maybe Keefe knows?

OK, another mystery record to attempt to find.

    Music Swapping

This seems like a good time to restate the board's policy regarding music swapping:

PLEASE DO NOT POST REQUESTS FOR OR MAKE OFFERS TO TRADE OR MAKE MP3s, CD-Rs AND/OR GIVE URLs OF WHERE TO DOWNLOAD SUCH ITEMS ANYWHERE IN THE FORUMS. ANY POSTS NOT FOLLOWING THIS POLICY WILL BE DELETED.

Bobby's name is listed right above Mike Wilkenson of Disconet fame so I'm guessing they were promoting some 'new' music.

Hey, it's no problem. Your one of quite a few new members who probably missed Bernie's announcement in the Forums.

Here we go with full details about the English 12":

    Title: Hot from the Casbah
    Year: 1980
    Label: Casablanca CANL194
    Marketed: by Pye Records
Sleeve: standard Casablanca Disco Single sleeve
    Speed: 45RpM
    Made: in England
    Tracks A side:
    1. Funkytown - Lipps Inc (7m51), written/produced by Steve Greenberg.
    2. Let's have a party - Danielle (6m59), written/produced by Rue Caldwell for La Rue Productions
    Tracks B side:
    1. Evelyn Thomas - Evelyn Thomas Suite (12:52), written by Ian Levine/Fiachra Trench, produced by Ian Levine for Voltafine Productions
    2. Ultimate - Feel so fine (4m48), produced by Michael Forte/Bruce Weeden for South Philly Productions

No other credits to remixers or the like. Danielle's track is by far the best track... as Funkytown was not really new at the time of release. Happy hunting!
