    thanks DiscoMan!

that soundclip is a perfect snapshot of how pervasively disco had taken over pop music in 1978 - that radio station clearly isn't exclusively disco, but nearly every other record was pure disco and many of the others are disco influenced.

love his comment about the guys leaning against the light post!

    Thanks :D

I knew folks would enjoy it. I posted partly because of our earlier thread regarding Hustle dancing and how pervasive Disco was throughout our society. Boston radio has always been terrific but never more so than than days of Disco through the mid (?) '80s. It lacks spontaneity and innovation today which is probably due to being far more market driven than it was then.

Or could it be that I'm 25 years older

    February 1979, not February 1978

    Great stuff!
It sounds more like February 1979 than February 1978. Just when "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy" and "What a Fool Believes" were starting to peak on the radio, and the same year Blondie's "Heart of Glass" was officially released. Also the same period when "I Want Your Love" by Chic, "Livin' It Up" by Bell and James, "Fire" by the Pointer Sisters, and "Every Time I Think of You" by the Babys were starting to hit it big. 1978 on their website must be a typo because I heard all the aforementioned songs on there. Unless they were magically a year ahead in getting DJ promo copies. They also announced the "new" song "Blow Away" by George Harrison, which was released February 16, 1979. That proves it was 1979. So does the inclusion of "Tragedy" by the Bee Gees. That Raes "A Little Lovin'" song that they played never reached the top 40.

Boston's Star 93.7 FM may have been the last American station to have a disco song reach #1 on a local chart... in early 2003 with "Murder on the Dancefloor" by Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
