    Scat songs

Hey guys, do you know of disco / funk / acid jazz songs that have scatting in them? I mean when the artist sings 'pah dah bah dah bah' or something like that instead of lyrics. My favourite examples are:

'September' and 'Badiyah' (mislabeled as 'Brazilian rhyme') by Earth, Wind & Fire
'Ride like the wind' by Christopher Cross
'Leads me back to you' by James Taylor Quartet
'Cars and girls' by Prefab Sprout (That's not disco at all, but I love it)

First ones come to mind are:

The Boy From New York City - Manhattan Transfer
Take A Chance On Me - ABBA
To Each His Own - Faith, Hope & Charity
Hey Girl, Come & Get It - Stylistics

I recall Karen Young's album on West End had several songs like that... "Bring on the Boys"...

    "Hot Shot" by Karen Young
"I Remember Yesterday" by Donna Summer
"Mr. Melody" by Natalie Cole (not sure if this classifies as disco, but it has a beat and she scats throughout the song).

It's amazing what moist towelettes can clean up (even easier if you wear PVC, of course I don't  ) Blanche. BTW, it's a suede pochette with drawer string rather than a purse if u don't mind.

How did u know that Blanchie, that's spooky! Of course I never visited that particular venue as a 'punter', no, someone happened to tell me about it when I was employed there in an equipment dusting capacity via the Prissy Cow Employment Agency Limited. :-? Those men in chaps & harnesses etc.were always very sweet to me & often gave generous tips. :o I had to leave in the end after a misunderstanding with a rugby player in the darkroom.

I think Blame My Pecs must be in some sauna in Amsterdam 'cos he does't seem to visit here any more. I used to like the quizzes he set.

OK guys, quite amusing, if not a little disgusting, but not helping 'galocha's' thread in the least. Don't go over the boiling point, please.

A few L.A. Boppers cuts have scats. Their version of 'La-La Means I Love You', for example.

    Wynd Chymes' 'Alakazam' is scat-tastic.
