DiscoDisk and all you Northern Soulers:
This song is on the CD "Modern Soul: Livin' For The Weekend", on IRMA that DD turned us onto sometime last year. The liner notes say the cut is from 1984, produced by D. Williams (is this D-Train? :o ) and was on the Private-I label. I am really into this and I'm wondering is it out there somewhere. Was this on an album (the version here is only 3-and-a-half minutes)? Was it a single 45 or 12"? Anything guys, I really like this. The Dells seem to just keep getting stronger. :)
NICKY as far as im aware this was 7" only though the label did release at least one other 12" its not madly expesive but theyre being spotted less and less cool label too 8) the problem with records like this they get left alone for a few years some d.j plays it at a sweaty all nighter and they're a top tune all over again and the price spirals ten fold an example of this at the moment is gayle adams 'baby i need your loving- prelude im watching how a copy of that is doing in a u.k internet auction 11 days to go and its already $150 and will end up at a silly price its a u.k 12" promo i have one its a plain white label and title stamped cover [boring] nothing special at all but this is what happens so you have to grab these things before its too late!
all the dells recordings from all eras are amazing my favourite is 'run for cover' chess, play once and it rolls round in your head for weeks :P and another disco dells number to look for from a couple of years before 'dont want nobody' is 'your song' 20th century sells for $$ here but the type of thing you could come across there and youd love it nicky 8)
BTW if your still on that c.d get track 1 on !!!!
