    Baby June Pointer Busted Again!!!!

Yep, she be on the crack pipe once more.

Baby June was found a little east of my neighborhood on Cherokee Street in Hollywood with a crack pipe and cocaine. Residents of some apartment building complained and found Baby June outside her sister Bonnie's apartment on the 1800 block of Cherokee. (Not a swell address--I gotta check out this block!!!)

She was released on $10,000 bail. Thank gawd for royalty checks.

June hasn't performed with her sisters Ruth & Anita for at least 4 years. They asked her to leave their act during their "Ain't Misbehavin'" tour. Yep, you guessed it --Baby June was uh..."misbehavin'"

I'm trying to picture which sister it is... Is June the one who sings JUMP?

She seems like she's the youngest sister but I could be wrong... How in the hell did she get into crack? wow... :(

Keefe knows this better than I...but I think June sang the lead vocal on most of their hits. She had the poppiest (is that a word?) lead voice. Sorta buck-teeth. Had a solo LP circa 1983 where she covered Martha & The Vandella's "I'm Ready For Love"

She's definitely the youngest..hence "Baby June".

There's been drug problems here for yeeeeeeaars. I wonder if Bonnie is June's enabler, her party pal or her dealer.

I gotta link here for anybody interested:

    http://www.eonline.com/News/Items/0%...C00.html?tnews

There must be a problem with this link... has something to do with the 0 or O

:D TRY THIS ONE :D --- Directly to June's article:

    http://www.eonline.com/News/Items/0,1,13974,00.html

And I replaced the letters 'O' in yours with 'ZERO'. Both links work fine.

June and Anita sang lead on most of their hits. June was the lead on Jump. Anita on I'm So Excited, Fire, Slow Hand, Yes We Can Can, How Long, Fairytale. I think Ruth was on Neutron Dance.

June is definitely the one with the buckteeth & a substantial overbite. She's the one that had a nervous breakdown a long time ago - something to do with being raped when she was a teen in Oakland!

Her and Bonnie have always been on the wild side. Remember when Bonnie was kicked off of Motown because she threatened Berry Gordy. Not exactly the smartest move. :o

Wasn't she involved in a (ahem) lesbian affair some years ago? That's what I read in the National Enquirer  so it must be true.

    Top 5 June Pointer songs
    5. The Police "Don't stand with your crack pipe so close to me"
    4. The Commodores "Crack House"
    3. Dan Hartman "Relight my fire in my crack pipe"
    2. Jean Carn "Don't let it go to you head"
    1. Donna Summer "Bad Girls"

She was no doubt singing 'I'm Coming Out' when the bail got approved! :P

A mate of mine once referred to them as 'The Pointless Sisters'. Ohh - das' harsh!

How's about 'Rock With You', 'Rock Around The Clock' and 'Heaven Is A Crack Pipe'. Even Nick Lowe's in on the act with 'Crackin' Up'. It's enough to make an 'American Squirm'. Now, get me outta here!!!!

****...it's got me started!

    But seriously folks.
Just think. 20 years ago, the Pointer Sisters were as big as Destiny's Child is now. :o What happened?...They got old I guess.

Man that's sad.. I remember back in 2000 (i think) when June was kicked out and went to rehab - she was in People magazine and all over the place talking about her recovery, and then the sisters took her back, then kicked her out again soon after claiming she was "pursuing other interests" (like getting back her crack pipe methinks)

I know that June and Bonnie have been touring together lately, they were part of some disco revival package tours last year ...I've heard many not-so good reviews of their shows.. On another forum someone said when they sang "I'm So Excited" the track that they sang to didn't even have the original vocals removed, so they were just singing along to Anita's original lead vocal..apparently both of them were rail thin and high as kites..and judging by the pictures from the shows, they looked like a couple of hookers to boot.. to quote one audience member:
"..those two bitches were higher then high, lifting up their skirts and showing people their crotches.." (I shouldn't laugh.. but damn.. I don't think the original pointers woulda done that) It's too bad since June and Bonnie have great voices and have made some great records that they're trotting around what looks to be a pretty cheap show..

    Yeah
It seems like some of these golden oldie tour shows are a tad...dodgy. I recently came across a site featuring tours with Maxine Nightingale and a few other '70s acts, which looked a much classier event. She, by contrast to the Pointer Sisters, has really looked after herself. Buyers have to beware also, that some of these tours don't feature the original members of the groups concerned. :-?

I know this is not a gossip site, but just to update :)

all the articles mention that only June was charged and not Bonnie, but according to the LAPD press release (http://www.lapd.org/press_releases/2004/04/pr04247.htm) June and Bonnie were both arrested, booked and both posted their $10,000 bail.. I wonder when we'll see the mugshots on smokinggun.com.. :-?

here's a link to some pics of them on "disco ball 2003"
performing with Peaches and Herb (Peaches looks like Herb's grandchild), The Ritchie Family, France Joli (she must be on the poutine diet), and First Choice feat. Rochelle Fleming (I didn't know First Choice had men in the group) among others..

hmm.. Stan.. I know they had a producer named Stan Watson in their early years on Philly Groove.. and Stan Watson owned Philly Groove Records as well if i'm not mistaken.. That might be him..

That's the guy; that particular CD is a compilation of their early years so he must've decided to pose with them for the photos (unusual for a producer to want the limelight!)
