What old LP's would you like to re-released into CD's?

A lot of vintage LP's that were big back in the late 1970's have been re-introduced as CD's. What vinyls would you like to see re-produced that have not already been reissued. I would like to see "A Night At Studio 54" on a CD.

Forget that horrible "A Night At Studio 54" album. I would rather see Steppin' Out - Disco's Greatest Hits on CD. Some others that I would love to see on a well mastered CD release are...

Love and Kisses - all albums
Alec R. Costandinos - All albums
Gregg Diamond and Bionic Boogie - 1st and 2nd albums
Peter Jacques Band - Fire Night Dance

There are more that I'll add later as I think of them.

Actually, I have this one on CD, but it is rare and probably out-of-print.

In addition to all of the above:
    Starcruisers (Gregg Diamond) LP
    Hardware (Gregg Diamond) LP
    All Ritchie Family LPs
    All Debbie Jacobs LPs
    All Gloria Gaynor LPs
    All High Inergy LPs
    Dennis Parker LP

All should include as many bonus tracks, 12" mixes, 7" edits, and previously unreleased tracks as possible.

    djsonic,
Ferrara 'Wuthering Heights' was released on cd by Undisc in the early 90s and should still be available.

    Salsoul1975,
That extended version of 'With Your Love' can be found on Donna Summer 'The Dance Collection'.

    Discovery,
I'm with you on all of those (and i've been kicking up my heels to Boystown Gang 'Dance Trance Medley' these past few days) !

King Costandinos catalogue is also top of my cd reissue wishlist closely followed by Theo Vaness and too many more to mention at the moment due to lack of time..!

Yeah, I'm quite surprised at how much has been released as I recall in the mid 90s complaining that there wasn't enough. Now the problem is that when something interesting comes along it is a) not mastered well (Hot CDs) b) discontinued and out-of-print soon after (Maximum Club Classics 1 & 2 and Boris Midney)

Not sure about whole LPs, but there were three Sam CD comps. from the mid-90s, which pretty much contained the lion's share of Sam classics. Unfortunately, some of the tracks (Gary's Gang & John Davis numbers included) were dubbed from crackly, unprocessed vinyl copies. Thankfully, most everything else is from tape and pretty crisp (though a little over-denoised in places).

I noticed the Rhyze tracks - 'Do Your Dance' and 'Just How Sweet Is Your Love' - are actually longer edits than the originals.

I find this lack of attention to sound quality little short of criminal. I got the Loose Change/TJM CD last year...and guess what!  :x

It would be nice if Donna McGhee’s "Make It Last Forever +3" Japanese CD was re-issue again, preferably on a domestic label at a reasonable price, I missed my chance to bid on this one on Ebay, it sold for 46.00 USD, a bit more than I was willing to pay..

I always wonder why alot of these underground disco LPs that have been reissued over the years or rare tracks on comps have been prossesed from vinyl instead of the original master tapes. Is it that the original master tapes are lost or destroyed and the only surviving copys are the vinyl pressings? This is what I think is the reasoning. Hot Productions..most of their stuff was all vinyl restorations with the acceptions of a few here and there. Sad thing is...they coulda done a hell of alot better restoring the vinyl to very close to tricking the ear that it was from the mastertapes (ive done it with the right mastering tools and mint vinyl).

Most likely. A lot of the original labels and studios (and sometimes performers) are history, and the tapes have either been discarded or lost along with them. Another possibility is that the tapes have been ruined by sticky-tape-syndrome, which threatens many master recordings made from the mid-70s to the mid-80s.

Thats actualy sad when you think about it. That the only way to preserve alot of these hard works of yesturyear is to try to savor from a used vinyl copy. Unless of corse your lucky enough to get hold of a sealed unopened one and do the prossess the second you open it and first play (what I did with sealed copies of THP's "Tender Is The Night" and Costandinos' "Paris Connection"). I'll say one Hot Production CD they did which was the compilation of both Tangerue and Strange Affair LPs...a few of the tracks from the vinyl are slightly warped. "Love Is A Strange Affair" is one that its really noticeable on.

Realistically, even that's not so ideal, when you consider how many first-time sealed originals have been stored badly prior to unsealing. Warps and pressure marks can be just as hazardous when it comes to sound.

I restore, myself - and some records are nigh on impossible to return to any former glory. Even after a Cedar DCX/CRX pass (which detects and removes up to 2,500 clicks per second) it can still take me 2 days to manually delete the clicks Cedar misses, on just 15 minutes of audio. This is the worst case scenario, though.

The pros who use the prohibitively expensive SADIE/Cedar and Sonic Solutions professional systems really can do some alchemy - there are vinyl-to-CD reissues out there that sound better than ever, when given the correct care and attention. Not a single click, thump or bump - and master tape hiss integrity retained also. Now, that's what I call remastering.

Ultimately, I'm sick of having to take CDs back to shops because their negligent parent labels have no quality control.

Oh I do defentaly know what your saying about even sealed stuff can be messed up. But these 2 were fresh as if they were brand new releases. The THP one I did must have been a very well pressed copy cause I hardly had to do anything to it aside from the fade out with the music trick and some mid and high adjustments. There was no noise removal even needed.

Speaking of THP, I've obtained sealed copies of both US and Canadian pressings of "Tender Is The Night". The US one is on crap vinyl, and there is too much noise to remove at the intro of "Weekend Two-Step". The Canadian is on better vinyl, but it was mastered with the stereo image so narrow that it's practically mono. Sometimes you just can't win.

Yep, I've obtained sealed records that sounded worse than my used copies.

I can do this with Cool Edit/Adobe Audition, but it's very time-consuming because my method is completely manual. Takes me hours and hours to do one LP. But I can't stand missed pops, dulled attack transients, or any of the other effects of crappy click-reduction, so off I go...

Donna Summer's "With Your Love" is indeed on "The Dance Collection" CD, but it is edited at 6:06. The promo 12" was 7:32. That version was only available on the cassette version of TDC, if I'm not mistaken.

You musta got a crap sealed copy then..cause I had no probs with mine..and its the US pressing. However, if yours is that white vinyl copy..then there could be a problem, cause alot of the colored vinyl had lots of surface noise issues.

No, it's the standard black vinyl. Butterfly just used crappy re-grind vinyl, as did most labels in the late 70s. My Canadian copy is on coloured vinyl, and sounds fine from that perspective.

An album that exudes sheer utter exquiteness is L.A. BOUND by King Errisson, because of "Manhattan Love Song". Any aficionado of orchestral disco grandeur would love to get those strings, congas and girl choruses in cd form - what the format may lack in warmth it makes up for crystal clear sound quality. With MLS the funky get down with the shiny, flamboyant Latin jousts with a touch of the dangerous, this track reconciles all stylistic contradictions.
