I found sometime some mixing not made at the intros, I mean the next track is mixed with the actual not in the first 16 beats, but in the breakdown or in another part of the song.
    Examples:
Instant Funk's "Got my mind made up" is sometimes let enter just at the last minute when there is the last beakdown.
Mass Production's "Wine-flow disco", can enter just at the mid breakdown when the lyrics are "sha!! sha!!"....

Anyone has experience with that way to mix?

Hi! I got a little bit opf experience with mixes not at the intro. I used to mix 2 or 3 different songs with Destination's "Move On Up." One song I remember using was Baby 'O "In The Forrest." I used to mix this latter one with "Move On Up" using the latin percussion after the sax solos in "Move.."

I also used to do a mix of Erotic Drum Band's "Pop Pop Shoo Wah" followed by Kano's "I'm Ready" which I brought in about 20 seconds after the initial handclaps and bass line.

    I hope this helps.

    This was my trick!!!
When I djed I always tried to use the break as an intro, in order to make new a known track since the people would have recognize that song but would have felt a different groove.
Of course you should need tracks with another break before the end, or two copies of the same records in order to enter again with the same track, or, better, with the instrumental version.

I like Giovanni's style. I was working today with "Viramundo" by Sergio Mendes. Mixed from the break, then back to the intro. It works better this way because you not only extend the song but the intro "fades up", which causes most of it to be missed by your audience.

    I agree!

Mixing from the break of a song is a plus when you have two copies of that record.

For example: Love is you - Carol Williams

I've done that on my KTU Studio 54 Clubhouse mix. It's a great tool for DJ's to use.
