Ahh, the love we have for each other Mix makes me feel warm inside
Oh, I suppose there are some bad Hollywood apples out there like Bruce Willis and Tom Selleck. Still there are some good guys like Oprah, Danny Glover, Ed Asner, and George Clooney just to name a few.

Hey, the point and I do have one--was that the top tier of Hollywood stars are no different than the CEOs who take as much money as they can get. Quelle surprise!!! CEOs outsource jobs to the Third World and fire US employees and employers like Walmart only wanna pay minumum wages; then the CEOs take huge bonuses from the massive profits these maneuvers generate--Hollywood heavy-hitters take 98% of the casting budget and let everyone else work for minimum wage. It's the same. It's the free market that Republicans love to extoll--but it's currently outta wack with reality.

Why am I paying $2.79 for a gallon of gas in LA? Oil companies are screwing us royally and then delightedly ( er, almost shamefully) posting RECORD PROFITS--they have so much PROIFIT they don't know what to do with it--yet the prices of gas continue to rise and we do nothing about it. :x

IT"S GREED BABY--PURE UNDADULTERATED GREEED.

Can we just share the wealth--spread it around--can the millionaires just be happy with their millions and not lust for BILLIONS???? I'm just askin'. :-?

I am thoroughly convinced that to get anywhere financially, one must act upon their inner greed....top Hollywood celebs being no exception. Jane Fonda, Oprah, even Jon Stewart at some point would have had to repress their personal feelings of what's right and wrong to 'get somewhere'...otherwise, you would find them all volunteering their acting skills in some smalltown theatre and enjoying a less hectic life.....however, there is no arguing that the artistically-minded individual has a different set of values than someone who is all business.

That's not to say that once they've hit it big in the movies, pop world or televsion, they don't have the opportunity to take advantage of their celebrity status and do some good in the world. For some reason, society names this as being 'liberal-minded' and for some reason, some deem this as bad. It's beyond me why that is :-? ...I kinda thought that we humans were supposed to love our fellow man, love thy neighbour and all that. I think somebody needs to draw me a picture 'cause I just don't get it.

In regards to greed, just take a look at the game show Deal or No Deal to watch Joe and Jill Average showing their greed in full action for the whole world to see on your 27" flat screen tv, 46" LCD, 61" Plasma or whatever.

    Re: Pres Politics

Several of the topics in this old thread from 2006 have become quite timely in the past few days due to the econonic meltdown of Wall Street.

I wanna say I told you so.

    SO ,

let me get this straight .... as it is now apparent ....

the only way for the conservatives' economic theories of free market, private sector ,unregulated capitalism to actually work

...... is by its being taken over, controlled, and guided by the government ...!!

Yep they privatize the PROFITS and socialize the LOSSES--Friday was Christmas Morning on Wall Street. The government wiped their slates clean and dumped all that unsightly DEBT--let the little people pick up the tab. :icon_evil:

Someone better find a way to get back the BILLIONS those companies that went belly-up paid their employees in BONUSES....this is the way to run companies?...Golden Parachutes for everyone who fucks up and fails at their jobs?

Words fail me. I can't wait to see the next crisis that's around the corner. Canada is lookin' better all the time.
