Even though I've been busy with my move and the website, I've been able to listen to some music although I had to relegate myself mostly to CDs since I'm still unpacking my records. I can't remember all of them, but here's what's been in rotation:

Earth, Wind and Fire: The Eternal Dance (4 CD box set)

Claudja Barry: Dancin' Fever (Best of CD)

David Mancuso's: The Loft 2 (great 2 CD set)

Various Artists: Just Say Yesterday (CD with great retro 80s New Wave tracks from Warner)

The Best of The Radio One Sessions Vol 1 (more 80s music)

    Some vinyl including:

    Berlin: Dancing In Berlin 12"

Kikrokos: Jungle DJ 12" & LP

Le Pamplrmousse: Le Pamplrmousse (their 1st LP)

Mayana: Skips A Beat 12" (Love this song)

    Later...

My better half and I are cleaning and fixing up a basement room. We found these old R&R 45s in a box in a corner:

SLEEP WALK - SANTO & JOHNNY

THE GIRL DON'T CARE - GENE CHANDLER

LOVE MAKES A WOMAN - BARBARA ACKLIN

EVERY LITTLE BIT HURTS/JUST LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE - BRENDA HOLLOWAY

THEN HE KISSED ME - THE CRYSTALS

SOMEONE SAVED MY LIFE TONIGHT - ELTON JOHN

    I THANK YOU/ HOLD ON I'M COMIN' - SAM & DAVE

A BEAUTIFUL MORNING/I'VE BEEN LONELY TOO LONG/GOOD LOVIN'/A GIRL LIKE YOU - THE YOUNG RASCALS

This must have triggered something because I'm pulling every MOTOWN act I've got: SUPREMES, TEMPS, MARTHA/VANDELLAS, MARVELETTES, MARVIN, SMOKEY/MIRACLES, STEVIE, FOUR TOPS...

I guess I'll be playing "oldies" for a little while longer.

In the light of the terrible events that occurred on September 11th, I have been in a fairly reflective and sombre mood since then.

I've haven't been around over the past 2 months or so, and haven't been reading all the recent posts, so if I'm repeating what's already been said many times - please accept my apologies - but I'd like to say my bit. Everybody I know in England has been deeply affected and upset by the events. I went to the trouble to sign the Book of Condolences at the American Embassy here in London - because I wanted to show my support to all of you in the USA. I find that music can be of great help in the troubled times ...

Firstly, I have been playing a lot of Seventies political stuff or just stuff about love etc

Marvin Gaye - What's Going On (entire LP)

(still sound as poignant and meaningful to me as on the 1st day I heard it and is still the best SOUL album ever)

    O'Jays - Love train

Curtis Mayfield (a lot of his early 70's political stuff)

    - Pusherman

If There's A Hell Down Below

    We Gotta Have Peace

Secondly, I have dug up all my New York tunes, and have been playing those - my own personal tribute to all those poor people who lost their lives, and to their families & friends as well ...

Metropolis - I Love New York

Odyssey - Native New Yorker (Yes - I shed many tears just listening to the words on this one)

    Cameo - New York

Timmy Thomas - New York Eyes

Traamps - Where Were You When The Lights Went Out (In New York City)

Patrick Juvet - I Love America

I also picked out some of my Washington DC go go tunes as well ...

Chuck Brown and The Soul Searchers - many tunes

Trouble Funk - Drop the Bomb

Yes - these tunes have really helped me over the past three weeks ... It shows that our music is of significance and is a great healer ...
If it moves - funk it!!
