Not sure about this, but there was a Patti Austin single called Rythym of the Streets, I don't know the release date, but it was earlier than what you mention, mid to late eighties.

Once again, because this is a house record I have chosen to use the house thread to identify a song. I believe it is from the early '90's because the tape I recorded this mastermix on I dated '93. It is a female singer and the chorus continously says:
"You can't stop the rhythm in the street"
I know it isn't much to go on, but I believe this would be the song title. Do any househeads know the artist and is this the title of the song? Thanks again for your help. Remember the roots of house were in disco. House nation!
Easy,

Are you sure you're not thinking of "Rhythm Of The Night"? That's from 1984 and was also on her self-titled album that year. It was not really house at all though.

Hmmmmm. It has been twenty years you know. Maybe Nicky will spot this and help us out. I know he likes Ms. Austin.

"The Rhythm Of The Street" was the flip side of Patti Austin's "It's Gonna Be Special" as I recall. From 1984, I think. NOt really house, more dance pop.
Good song.
