Hey, I just remembered! Some DJs used some instrumental song intros of Styx records (yes, the progressive rock band) in between songs. Specially the beginning of "Lights" (on the Cornerstone album), but also "I'm OK" and "Lonely people".
What did the dancers during these short breaks? Well, they just tried to dance THAT!
Do you remember listening to any other weird rock records on a disco?

Hi Nano, I remember dj'ing in the earlier '80's (81-82) right after the 'death' of Disco and the advant of 'New-Wave'. The chain of Disco's I worked at in Florida (ABC Liquor Lounges) insisted that ALL of thier DJ's mix various 'types' (Disco, Soul, Funk, Rock and 'Wave') throughout the evening. One of my favorites was Styx's 'Too Much Time On My Hands' into Stone's 'Time'. Nothing of a 'bpm' mix, but the playing of both record's clock sound ('tic toc'). I was lucky as my room would dance to both!! All the best, DJ Phil

Thanks for your comments, Phil. I was sure someone had had a similar experience.
