I'm sure now you have the name Google will throw up several places you can get hold of it :D![]()
Back in about 1984 or 1985 there was a club hit called 'It should have been me' by an artist whose first name was Jane (I believe). Can anyone tell me what the artist full name is and if there is perhaps somewhere where I can get the 12" vinyl version or a copy on CD?

Thanks Stan....I'm pretty sure the version that I am looking for is a remake of Yvonne Fair. I just remember it being real popular back in the mid 80's and would love to find a copy of it somewhere
I can only think of a remake by a band called Blacknuss Allstars from Sweden. The track came out on their Made In Sweden album (1995), and was sung by Titiyo and Jennifer Brown. Titiyo is Neneh Cherry's sister.
Great remake, great band.

Thanks for the info Maarten...I'll have to check it out some time. In the mean time, it's gonna drive me crazy to find out the info on the 1984/1985 remake!!!!
IF it's a remake of the wonderful Yvonne Fair "It Should Have Been Me" record you want....Adeva did one around 1990.
The picture cover of the Adeva 12" is on the cover of the Joel Whitburn Dance Music Billboard chart book.
AMG says:
House/R&B vocalist Adeva is known for her commanding diva vamps, but she also has a strong feeling for songs closer to gospel ballads. Born in New Jersey, Adeva first gained fame in Australia and Europe; her first three singles ("Respect," "Warning," and "I Thank You") all peaked at number 17 in the British charts during the first ten months of 1989. A collaboration with U.S. producer Paul Simpson in March of that year also yielded a number 22 hit in England. Her debut album Adeva! gained platinum and gold distinctions in Europe, and an American release did respectably, as did two subsequent albums, Love or Lust? and It Should Have Been. In 1995, dance heavyweight Frankie Knuckles selected her as featured vocalist on virtually all of his Welcome to the Real World album. Adeva's work after the Knuckles LP included a single with Hyper Go Go in 1996.

Thanks Markydefad. I have heard the Adeva version which is pretty decent....but like I've been saying....I would love to find the version that came out in 1984/1985 by someone named Jane whose last name I don't recall!!!!!
It is by Jayne Edwards on Profile 1984

Awesome mixmachine!!!! I have been trying to find this out for quite sometime now!!!! A thousand thanks for the info!!!!!
Is this version sleaze or uptempo?
I have it down at 128 BPM, Just gave it a spin to refresh my memory, it's actually a fairly good version with energetic vocals similar to Fair's version, they use acoustic piano and the drum beat is similar to the West End label sound of the day. I played it back then but it was never suited for the clubs I was doing at the time and therefore it was never a hit for me. :(
Does anyone know if the Jayne Edwards version is available on any CD and if so, where it can be purchased?
What I want to know is how did you put the scanned label picture in there???
