    e.bay strange goings on

whats going on at e.bay all records l.ps 78s 45s all types have been dumped together in one category [other] so all those northern soul fans searching for that elusive classic 'up in a puff of smoke' are now going to wade through 8 million pages, its just a clever marketing ploy right?

DD: You're a victim of its success.

Me no pop I. Just talking as any rational human being would do. I realise that disciples such as yourself may find that hard to deal with, but interestingly, many of the major players from BITD on the Northern Soul scene have now acknowledged that it went OTT and they were guilty of gross stupidity at times. Believe it or not, I really admire people who are able to be passionate about something, but I don't like it when their passion turns into blind fanaticism. That's a dangerous place for anyone to go, 'cos that's when the darker side begins to take over. Unfortunately for both you and I, every Northern Soul devotee that I've ever met has been an absolute fanatic and somewhat frighteningly intense.

Me I've always been too paranoid, low tech etc to dare and order anything thru Ebay or Gemm. I've had several peeks though to see if Shirley Bassey's "Copacabana" would be available. As this title was the b-side of "This Is My Life" in America only and not realesed in Europe at all, one would need the US print, and That's The Trouble - the sellers don't specialise what pressing they are offering. Never saw a vinyl pressing of Shirley's ultragrandiose "La Passione" either - maybe now someone will come forth with a copy due to the hilariously trashy/obsessive/sick Mel Gibson/Holy Spirit-directed junkfest!

Jussi, like you, I was always low tech & paranoid but I recently took the plunge & ordered several items via GEMM (I thought life's too short!) & I'm so very pleased with the speed of delivery, quality of vinyl & fairly cheap prices that I'm now addicted & I doubt I'll ever visit a 2nd-hand record shop again!!

EBay has messed up big time with record buyers to be sure. Judging by the number of complaint postings on the board at eBay I suspect they'll correct the problem ASAP.

Jussik I'm sure you know, but there are two Us versions one with and one without "Copa" on the flip.

    i totally agree.

    ebay id name
    e-s-q-u-e
    DISCO

The word evokes not just a type of music or a kind of dance or even a style of dress.It\'s also a new social order of black and white, gay and straight, rich and poor, all hot, sweaty and, most likely, high, together.
