Hi anyone can tell me what songs that Chaka and Patti Labelle which are disco songs or at least sounds quite disco and became big club hit back then ?
i already know :
Chaka (Rufus) - any love
Patti - Music is the way i live, Spirit's in it
anyone can tell me more ?
thanks
Other disco tracks by these artists:
Chaka Khan - "Fate" (1981) ** Awesome track
Rufus and Chaka - "Body Heat" (1979)
Rufus and Chaka - "I'm Dancing For Your Love" (1979)
LaBelle - "Lady Marmalade" (1974)
Of course, Chaka's 1984 dance smash "I Feel for You" is also noteworthy.
Here's what I'd like to hear next:
Stargard - "Disco Rufus" (1977) - I assume this is some kind of medley of Rufus funk tracks discofied?
I love the Rufus and Chaka Masterjam album..it seems that's about as disco as they got..Chaka sounds like shes going through the motions at times, in her book she said she'd had it with Rufus by this time, so that's probably why.. but Quincy managed to get another great one out of 'em..
I have to add a couple of tracks from Chaka's awesome 1982 self-titled album:
"Tearin' It Up" (not my favorite, but I think Larry Levan did a mix of this)
"Best In The West" 8)
nah, it's actually an original song..nothing to do with Rufus the band.. they just go "get up, get up..disco rufus" the whole time.. it's mostly instrumental, but it's kinda fun thoOriginally Written by discosavvy
The 12" of 'Tearin' It Up' is an appalling record. 'Clouds' is a well-worn but still viable goodie. 'Close The Door' and 'Do You Love What You Feel' go down well, also.
What would you do without your muesli...where would you be without a bowl?
Don't forget Chaka's biggest disco hit "I'm Every Woman", which was made into an even bigger disco hit by Whitney Houston back in 93'.

What about "Any Old Sunday"? Which I love, and I saw her on TV saying that she hated. :-?
Honorable mentions must go to Chaka's "What Cha Gonna Do For Me" (1981). You can't go wrong with stuff like "We Can Work it Out", "I Know You I Live You" & "Fate".
IMO it's the best solo LP she ever made!
I wholeheartedly disagree. Her first LP was her best.
She even does a duet with George Benson on it.![]()
I'm so pleased nobody mentioned 'Aint Nobody' as I think this track is so over-rated; pleasant but nothing special IMO. I agree that 'Masterjam' from '79 is the usual Quincy Jones produced perfection though.
...ya gotta beat the street......
I always thought that
PASS IT ON (A SURE THING)
was pretty much a disco track from 1983.

Anyone know why this song also appeared on an album (their only) by The Dukes in 1982?
The album THE DUKES was performed by a group called Bugatti and Musker -- basically a full band with a flute player, bass players, guitarists, five horn players, two percussionists (including the omnipresent Paulinho Da Costa), etc. -- and that track "Fate" was written by Frank Musker and Dominic Bugatti, so I suppose it was natural for them to reuse such great material on a project using their own name. I haven't heard the Bugatti and Musker album version, is it any good? Is it similar in sound to the original?Originally Written by buckaroo
Does that Dukes LP include 'Mystery Girl'? I always loved that track.

On the LP THE DUKES, "Mystery Girl" is track #1, "Fate" is track #9.
