Anyone here knowing if the classic "Superdisco" by The Rimshots has originally been released as a 12" back in 1975? And, in case, is it an extended version?

I've never seen a 12" version of that song. I have a 7" 45RPM as well as a Best Of CD from The Rimshots.

This board is excellent in that it has taught me about many disco/dance tracks that I didn't know about, or knew off, but never knew who/what they were. Examples are Ripple, Double Exposure, Rudy, Midnight Gang, Rockie Robbins, Kebelelektrik, and so on and so on.

However, the "fanaticism" around the Rimshot's song really surprised me. It ended high up in the Disco Top 500 and, when shopping one day, I saw the compilation CD and bought it.

And I am truly sorry to say this, but I really don't understand the fuss about this track. It is so-so (no great orchestration, no dazzling break, mediocre recording technique, hum-ho lyrics and music) and the other tracks are worse.

I guess taste is a highly personal thing - and so it should be. Hope I don't offend anyone. Perhaps if someone could give their 'rave review' about why this track is so great, I might learn something.

Hey Maarten. I love this song. No, I'm not offended by the fact that this song aint all that to you
I love horns and the horn intro really works for me because it got me or kept me on the floor. The tempo fits nicely into the way I like to dance. I also like that brushed cymbal (I think someone here called that a high top or something) in the song.

I'm with Maarten on this one. I, too, could not believe all the folks who rated this and another cut I'd never heard of "Moonboots" by O.R.S. so highly in the rankings for best disco songs. I downloaded both from Napster, but have not found either on vinyl or CD, as of yet. I don't recall ever dancing to either and I don't get all the fuss. I'm NOT saying they SUCK, but I don't get why they're anyone's faves.

Well, on Moonbots I do agree with you Markey. I don't remember dancing to it and what little I've heard sounds blah.
