I've heard on occasion about a Supertramp track that used to get played by some of the disco DJs. It may be the 12" instrumental of a track called 'Cannonball'. :-?

    DJ Phillip

A good dj friend of my gave me a copy of a bootleg (white label)of the "Logical Song" by Supertramp by in 2002. It's 7:25 in length and it's very fast about 140 bpm. It
s basically instrumental except for a small sample of the lyric "when I was young etc.

I've read about this track. It's mentioned in the excellent book - How to DJ Right.

I'd be interested to know what it was as well/

I would agree with Forrrce that it will be Cannonball. It was supposed to have been played by Larry Levan etc. The instrumental (I think) only came out on promo.

I agree also. I owned a copy of this record back in the day. It was released on a 12". Vocal on Side A, Instrumental on Side B. Don't remember if was an import or domestic release.

    definitely Cannonball instrumental

I still play it in the middle of house sets and someone always asks what it is. Came out in the UK 1985 on A&M. Just looking at the 12" now. Cat no is AMY 248.

Definitely the instrumental version of "Cannonball" from 1985--was a domestic 12". They played it at Probe; shouldn't be that hard to find.

    AMG says:

"The hit single "Cannonball" is a jazz-rock delight, especially in full-length album form. Lyrically, it can be interpreted as Davies' feelings of betrayal at Hodgson's departure, but the piano, percussion and horns are superb. "

But it was the souped-up instrumental 12" version that worked in the clubs of the day.

Er, yeah, it was me that wrote that

It's Cannonball as has been correctly surmised by virtually everyone here. I like it a lot, though I appreciate it might not be to everyone's taste.

Cannonball by Supertramp was played at The Saint and also The Palledium. I like the instrumental better. Great song. It also came out on CD in the early 1990's .

The PWL mix of 'I'm Beggin'You' also got alot of club attention in '87. Cannonball's better though; I always thought it was a bit like Christopher Cross's 'Ride Like The Wind'.

It was a joke, with a point, not really a secret. Anyway, now you know. 8)

Nrgbeat has it right. If it's a kick ass house track then check out I'm Beggin You (Madhouse Mix) by Supertramp.I have it on the B side of the 1987 12" A & M promo I'm Beggin You (5:24) Straight pass mix and it clocks in at 8:28.It features a kick ass bass line with a rolliking piano riff and someone vocalizing "House music" throughout.Far superior as a house track to Cannonball.
