I don't know of a Spanish version, but a mate of mine recently found an Italian version, which I recognised as some house sample.

McFadden & Whitehead's is definitely the original, having come out first in 1978 on a tiny label. It was a tribute to the Philly Eagles and was originally credited thus. The 1979 PIR version is the hit, though another 'team' version was released in 1981 on TSOP.

It was done by Charanga 76, vocalist are Hansel and Raul, famous 'Salseros' from Miami originally from New Jersey I believe.

"Disco Forever” from Dimitri from Paris has the original full length version and also mixed in a second CD.

    Forrrce,

I was under the impression that you wrote the liner notes for this CD.

You're right...I just wasn't thinking about Charanga 76 when I answered the question. An absent mind.

Further to Forrce's post, there is an Italian version, though I think it's based on it, rather than being a straight cover (I don't speak Italian, so I cant compare lyrics). It's by Pino D'Angio and it's called Ma Quale Idea. Obviously, it's not the answer to your question, but I thought I'd stick my oar in anyway :)

    HI!

Just buy the Disco Forever comp!
    http://www.discomusic.com/cds-more/977_0_3_0_C/
It's great! :D Contains many nearly impossible to find songs in their long form and a good mix cd aswell.

I've come to a conclusion that the Craranga76 stuff are nowhere to get, I have looked them up every once in a while. I was however, lucky enough to hear the other songs from their lp, (thank you vey much Jussi! :D ) and must say, that besides maybe we are family cover, the best one is the No nos pararan. Good stuff all though 8)

Carmine, I don't wonder you hesitate, I've been getting little sceptical too lately. There're are so many cd's that are not worthy their price. I mean in larger cities you can find them cheaper in shops I guess, but for example in here the selections aren't that good and ordering through the net is not acctually cheap. Allthough it's cheaper than the import prices of the local shops, if they by accident happen to have something.

Luckily this site has the cd selection :D It offers great info, becouse sometimes the details in amazon etc. are not precise enough.

But this DF comp is a really fine package.

Carmine, btw - did you get the new mixer...?
