I could be wrong, but it doesn't sound like a 1978 track to my ears. If it is, I'll be gobsmacked!
New to board so hi
I need a track off DJ Discotizer tape...
DJ Discotizer - New York mix 1978, side A.
Its the long 10 minute dubbed out instrumental track which starts at 12 mins into side A.
A bit vague but can`t seem to do a clip at the mo. can be found at...

Number 882 on the list![]()

pauly, IŽll give you a hint.... its on west end ..
youŽll need to dig.. it will school you better

I love the Discotizer mix... the final song on side B is very cool as well...it's way out there.. spacy and amazing. I have no idea who it is though. Will check the West End site for the other track.
You took this snipe at one member for no apparent reason and then found it necessary to 'school' another one rather than share the information he's requesting. :-?Originally Written by johnnyboy
Consider schooling yourself, johnnyboy, and chill with the attitude.

Pauly p,
WELCOME TO THE BOARD and since 'johnny' is saying check out West End, the only thing I can think of would be "Sessomatto". I don't have the 12" so I can't confirm but give it a listen as I know it's an instrumental.
I'm waiting to be gobsmacked! If it really is from '78, then it must have been 3 to 4 years ahead of its time. There's some FX in there that sound very '81/'82 (or later). Is this a (25th anniversary) later remix of some description, with added FX?
BTW: Sorry, but I don't know how anyone could say this Discotizer mix is 'cool' or like it as a mix. The guy's obviously got some ideas (rather overdone at times), but his mixing ability is diabolical.
Quinny,
You use the word diabolical.. is this a good kind of "diabolical" or a bad kind?
What's wrong with saying the mix is cool? I love the song selections... honestly I never even paid attention to his mixing technique.
Like I said. He has some good ideas, but he doesn't have the ability to really make them work. I was listening to the mixing as much as the tunes.
If you like the tune selection, great! I have no qualms with that as such.
I've just had a listen and it's definitely not that. I don't recognise it all, even though I used to have pretty much the entire West End catalogue. I see what Quinny's saying - that stereo delay isn't something I've heard on anything pre 1982.Originally Written by NickNack
Aren't they a lot of people joing the forum now, just to identify tracks on these fake tapes on DHP...don't say thanks to anyone who bothers to help them, then f**k off without bringing anything to the great table of discussion, re. the other fora on this site ???

The word evokes not just a type of music or a kind of dance or even a style of dress.It\'s also a new social order of black and white, gay and straight, rich and poor, all hot, sweaty and, most likely, high, together.
Thank you. And I find their rudeness quite irritating. I guess 'dhp' doesn't help them identify the music they play so they come here. We wrack our brains to get an answer for them only to have them run-off, without so much as a "gee guys, thanks".Originally Written by Forrrce
All I can say is, "Glad my Momma didn't raise me that way."
wehay, looks like I`ve started an argument over a track which still hasnt been id`d so I may as well stick around then (until its gets id`d if thats why you think I`m really here  ).
And yep it doesnt sound very seventies

hi pauly p,
im sure others will agree with me when i say theres plenty of room for new comers to join discomusic.com. but there are members from time to time who join for just one song then leave and never to be heard from again. we're not saying its you it was just brought up in a general sense. so please stick around, im sure for every song you need identified there are a hundred behind them.
theres one thing ive learned since joining this site about 3 years ago, is that i thought i knew my sh.. before, boy was i wrong there are guys here who can put you away with their knowledge of disco music and music in general for that matter.
quinny is very knowledgable and respected here and should not have been dissed like that from that other character.
just my 2 cents

Forrrce and I weren't directing the comments at you in particular. Sorry for that misunderstanding. It's just that lately we've had so many 'one-shots' I've stopped welcoming them to the board on their first entry because 75% or more don't even return to see it. I'm pretty confident an answer for you is somewhere on the horizon. :)
Just like 02T - i thought i knew my sh.. before, boy was i wrong. I may not answer or give to the site but believe me I check in everytime I'm online. Not everyone's a "fly by night."[/quote]. I heard the mix and I could swear someone posted it before - not the entire mix - but a thread (if you will).
There was a thread earlier, but then the mix was the other way around with the now A side as the B side. BTW: isn't there another thread at this moment about the now 'B' side too?
This is most frustrating for one guy to make the assertion that it is from '78 and NOT spill the beans. Talk about mind games!!
I'm still waiting to be gobsmacked and if the track is from '78 (i.e. the track as is , and isn't some '78 track that's been used as a sample or redone at a later date) I'll be the first to retract my comments. I just can't think that anyone could have or would have produced such a dense, repetitive track back then that was soooo totally not in any other contemporary style. Normally, one offs caused more of a stir than bland formulaic tracks. You'd have thought it would have made everybody's ears prick up, BITD and somebody else would know it.
The only thing I can think of is that it's part of The Bombers - The Mexican which has been sampled and overdubbed with the FX and organ.
Other wise, where is it amongst this little lot?

I listened to that Discotizer mix a few years and enjoyed it a lot, but I don't believe for a minute it's from 1978. I suspect it was done quite recently. Discotizer was supposed to be an NY Dj from back in the day, but I've asked quite a lot of people and no one has ever heard of him. It smells quite fishy, if you ask me (which, admittedly, you're not :-?)
pauly , if you do a search on discotizer in this forum youŽll find the whole tracklist..
YouŽll also find more strange remarks by quinny..
ps: its michele-disco dance the patrick cowley mega mix.

Thank you Johnnyboy!! I'm gobsmacked. Cowley was obviously into experimenting in a big way, even then. Surprised this track isn't better known, although for me it is a tad boring after 3 minutes or so. After 8 - 9 I was gagging for a respite. :)
I still stand by what I've said re- DJ Discotizer though and his mixing, weird or not.
IMO: If he had mixed it BITD the following must have been so:
1) If he mixed it on a cassette the quality would have been even worse. Stereo cassette decks had only just made their appearance in '78 and the tapes were pretty awful. No Chrome or Metal, just 'cooking' quality Ferric.
2) If it was mixed onto a reel to reel it would suggest that he worked a reasonably good club (and surely someone would know of him).
3) He might have had a reel to reel himself and generally, except for incredibly expensive pro machines, an average consumer model was piss poor (decent tapes and quarter track, slow speeds also being a problem as with cassette).
4) If he worked like that in a club, surely he would have got the sack. Jeez, his mixing is really, really bad, especially for NYC!!!
jeez, I should have known that. What year?Originally Written by johnnyboy
Many thanks :D , now to buy the full version (probably 15 mins long hehe)
