Carl Anderson Dead After Cancer Battle

Just found out that on Monday, soul/jazz singer Carl Anderson passed away after a long cancer battle. Carl was most famous for his top pop hit duet "Friends And Lovers" in 1986 from the soap "Days Of Our Lives" and his performance in the original "Jesus Christ Superstar". Also a forgotton unknown acting roll of Carl's is in the imortal Incredible Hulk blaxploitation episode "Like A Brother". Just thought i'd post about this here in case there are any fans.

Sad news indeed. Carl Anderson was probably best known for his "Buttercup" song, but he also did some pretty good (if not very disco like) stuff later on mostly released by the GRP label. He really did turn into a sort of adult contemporary soul vocalist in the style of, say, Phil Perry and Will Downing.
    There was life after disco!!

My favourite track of Carl's was 'Dont Make Me Wait' from '84; very in that early 80s Al Jarreau style I thought. What sad news again; that 'in memory of' section will be getting terribly full!

That is a shame. Was he is his 50's?

I was gonna say "Don't make me wait" too. "Buttercup" was an anthem but a bit over played. I only recently realised it was a Stevie Wonder composition. I wonder if he knew how popular that song was in the UK?

Carl was certainly a good singer, I remember his JCS performance well.

"Buttercup" and his performance in JCS is all I ever knew of him other than the Incredible Hulk episode which I pulled out and watched the other night. It is sad that he went too early, but hey..like Billy Joel said "Only The Good Die Young"...and it's true.

As I recall, he also appeared in an episode of Miami Vice.
A friend of mine told me about his death the other day. He added that it was sad that an artist like Carl Anderson didn't earn much exposure or awards, but someone like Norah Jones, who can't even raise a smile in her videos, is lauded to the hilt.

I just had a butcher's at IMDB, but there's no mention of his appearence in the series. It also doesn't say that he was in an ep. of Hill Street Blues. I've noticed recently that IMDB isn't totally accurate. :-?

carl anderson - "on & on"

Just discovered "magic", an incredible funky song by carl anderson with a strong disco/boogie attitude. Found out, that this killer track was a release from carl's second album "on & on" (epic, early 80's). I was looking for it in several record-shops, but it seems pretty hard to find...
Maybe I should try with some online record-stores.
Does anyone know this record (on & on), is it worth buying it ?
