Venus

I am debating whether or not to buy a cd with a disco version
of "Venus" by Frankie Avalon. Has anyone heard it?
Is it any good?

It's a classic my friend. You should know it when you hear it

However I dont know if it's the full length 12'' version or not on this CD your talkin bout. It's a good dated orchestral disco track.

French crooner Sacha Distel did a Venus too around the same time as Frankie, with both French and English language versions. Which of the guys did it better is debatable.

Well, I took the plunge and bought the CD. I was delighted to
discover it has both the original disco version with vocals, (4:50) and it has the extended, partially instrumental version
(6:10) !!! It is awesome!!! A great song. Frankie also does a version of the Love Boat theme as well which is pretty good too. The album is entitled, "Venus" and is on the Unidisc label.

Have you ever heard Key Hano's version of the Love Boat?
It is excellent. Recently got Captain Love's version, not very good... ;(

Jack Jones (of corse..TV Version and 12'' Disco Version)
Charo/John Davis
Amanda Lear
Reel Big Fish (aka Richard Cheese...more comedy id say)
Captian Love (which yes..sucks, just a sample of the original 12'' mix and some dude singing over it for the most part)
